Abstract

Electronic-based learning or commonly called e-learning or online learning has become an important component of learning in vocational high schools considering the need to prepare students to face future challenges. The aim of this study is to evaluate teachers' readiness for online learning, identify difficulties faced by teachers, identify the e-learning platforms used, and examine the learning methods used. The research respondents were 118 vocational-school teachers in mechanical engineering throughout Indonesia. The research instrument was a questionnaire distributed online using Google Form, and the results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed that most Mechanical Engineering Vocational School teachers stated that they were not ready to implement e-learning, and the readiness of productive teachers was lower than that of adaptive teachers. The main difficulties experienced by teachers in e-learning are in the aspects of learning facilities and implementation of the learning process. The digital platform most used by teachers is social media, followed using video conferencing, and LMS is the platform that is used the least. Teachers have implemented student centered learning methods combined with teacher centered learning in online learning. Learning innovation is needed in the form of integration of methods, platforms and media that can accommodate teachers' difficulties, especially for productive subjects that require practice to form hard skills competencies

Abstract

AbstrakProgram pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada edukasi dan pelatihan bagi pengrajin eceng gondok di Maeswara Keranjang Basket, Kulonprogo-Yogyakarta, dengan tujuan meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas produk. Fokus utama kegiatan adalah pengembangan dan penggunaan teknologi pemipihan, yang sebelumnya terbatas pada proses manual. Program ini berlangsung selama empat bulan, dari April hingga Juli 2024, melibatkan seluruh pekerja termasuk pemilik usaha. Kegiatan utama meliputi diskusi kelompok terarah (Focus Group Discussion), perancangan dan pembuatan alat pemipihan, serta sesi pelatihan langsung yang diikuti dengan evaluasi kinerja. Sasaran program adalah lima orang, termasuk pengrajin dan administrator. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan operasional dan produktivitas. Selain itu, kemampuan pekerja dalam merawat dan mengoperasikan teknologi baru secara aman juga meningkat. Inisiatif ini berhasil meningkatkan daya saing produk Maeswara di pasar. Kata Kunci: eichhornia crassipes; teknologi pemipihan; produksi kerajinan; edukasi dan pelatihan; maeswara. AbstractThe community service program focused on educating and training water hyacinth artisans at Maeswara Keranjang Basket, Kulonprogo-Yogyakarta, with the aim of increasing productivity and product quality. The primary focus of the activities was on the development and use of a flattening tool technology, which had previously been limited to manual processes. The program was conducted over four months, from April to July 2024, involving all workers, including the owner. The main activities included Focus Group Discussions, the design and fabrication of the flattening tool, as well as hands-on training sessions followed by performance evaluation. The target audience consisted of five individuals, including artisans and administrators. The training results demonstrated significant improvements in operational capabilities and productivity. Additionally, the workers’ ability to maintain and safely operate the new technology was enhanced. This initiative successfully increased the competitiveness of Maeswara's products in the market. Keywords: eichhornia crassipes; flattening technology; craft production; education and training; maeswara.

Abstract

Three aspects of student competency consisting of knowledge (cognitive), skills (psychomotor), and attitude (affective). This study aims to compare the achievement of basic machining competencies in block system learning and traditional learning. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach. The method was a quasi-experimental method with posttest only control group design, with the block system treatment in the experimental group and the traditional or regular learning in the control group. The experimental group consisted of 75 students from the Applied Bachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineering Study Program (Diploma 4), and the control group consisted of 66 students from the Bachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program as the control group. Research data was obtained from the post-test scores for the Machining Theory course and the final scores for Basic Machining Practices. Descriptive statistics show that students' competency achievements in the knowledge aspect in block learning are less good than in traditional learning. However, student competency achievements in the skills and attitude aspects in the block learning system are better than in traditional learning. Although further statistical tests are needed to measure the differences and significance between the two learning modes, these results have provided an illustration of the weaknesses of block learning in theoretical and conceptual learning. Therefore, educators need to apply innovative learning strategies to overcome these weaknesses.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah membuka peluang besar bagi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) untuk mengembangkan bisnis melalui platform online, termasuk website. Namun, sebagian besar pelaku UMKM belum memiliki keterampilan dan pemahaman yang memadai untuk memanfaatkan teknologi ini secara optimal. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas digital pelaku UMKM melalui pendampingan pengembangan dan pengelolaan website sebagai media promosi dan manajemen usaha. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama tiga bulan dengan melibatkan 36 pelaku UMKM dan dilaksanakan melalui empat tahapan: persiapan, pelatihan dasar, pendampingan teknis, serta optimalisasi dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta (100%) berhasil memiliki website aktif sesuai karakteristik usaha mereka, dan sekitar 80% peserta mampu mengelola konten secara mandiri. Selain itu, hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan literasi digital rata-rata sebesar 75%, yang berdampak pada meningkatnya interaksi pelanggan dan perluasan jangkauan pasar. Kesimpulannya, metode pelatihan berbasis praktik langsung dan pendampingan berkelanjutan terbukti efektif dalam mendorong transformasi digital UMKM serta menjadi model pengabdian yang dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain.
