Purpose This study aims to analyze the influence of fintech lending indicators on the financial performance of KBMI 4 banks in Indonesia, with a focus on two key metrics: Return on Assets (ROA) and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR). The research explores the involvement of banks in the fintech ecosystem, particularly through digital lending, as a response to the evolving dynamics of the digital financial industry. Design/methodology/approach The study employs the Error Correction Model (ECM) method based on monthly time-series data from 2020 to 2024. The analyzed indicators include the number of fintech lending companies, the number of lenders, the number of borrowers, loan values, and the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio. Findings The findings indicate that the number of fintech lending companies and the number of lenders have a positive and significant effect on both ROA and LDR, reflecting the potential synergy between banks and fintech firms in enhancing profitability and financial intermediation. Conversely, the number of borrowers and the NPL ratio show a negative impact on the banks' financial performance, suggesting potential risks that need to be addressed within the digital credit ecosystem. Research limitations/implications This study is limited to KBMI 4 banks and a specific data period. Future research is recommended to expand the scope to other types of banks and incorporate additional external variables. Originality/value This study provides an initial contribution to the understanding of the impact of digital lending on bank performance in Indonesia, particularly in the context of ongoing digital transformation.
