Efforts to reduce the prevalence of stunting need to be carried out further to reuduce the stunting prevalence in Semarang. Lack of milk consumption is one of the factors that causes stunting. This study used a case-control design by examining nutritional status height/age (stunting) as the dependent variable, amounts, and frequency of milk consumption as independent variables, as well as mother's knowledge, father's education, mother's education, father's occupation, mother's occupation, family income, history Exclusive breastfeeding, and infectious diseases as confounding variables. The research subjects were 24 mothers of stunted toddlers and 24 mothers of toddlers who were not stunted. Bivariate data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square or Fisher test as an alternative. The bivariate analysis results were selected to be continued in multivariate analysis using the logistic regression test. After controlling for confounding variables, the most dominant variable with the incidence of stunting is milk consumption, with an OR value of 12,5. Toddlers with milk consumption ≤38 g/day will have a 12,5 times higher risk of experiencing stunting.

Abstract

Counseling interventions coordinated by social work are essential for suicide prevention in underprivileged groups. Linguistic methodologies in counseling promote effective communication, improve comprehension, and foster trust between social workers and vulnerable children. This study examines optimal practices for applying counseling strategies that incorporate linguistic sensitivity among two underrepresented communities. The results indicate that this method effectively enhanced children's emotional regulation (80%), self-confidence (75%), and the formation of healthy interpersonal relationships (85%). Nonetheless, obstacles such as stigma associated with mental health care, parental opposition, and resource limitations persist as considerable impediments. Recommendations encompass training social workers in linguistically inclusive communication techniques, enhancing cross-sector policy support, and utilizing technology to broaden program outreach. This study emphasizes that incorporating language and cultural methodologies into social work counseling can effectively mitigate suicide risk in marginalized areas, ensuring communication is socially and culturally pertinent while promoting trust and engagement.

Abstract

Nonformal education is crucial in accessing marginalized communities often excluded from formal education systems. However, integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) approaches in nonformal education remains limited. This study aims to explore the role of SEL in enhancing the psychological, social, and emotional well-being of learners from marginalized communities and identify implementation challenges. The research employs a literature review method with a critical analysis of SEL theories and practices and their relevance to nonformal education contexts. The findings indicate that the application of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in nonformal education has significant potential to improve the welfare of marginalized communities, especially in the context of education at Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM) and other learning groups. However, the study also reveals structural, social, and cultural barriers, including a lack of policy support and resource limitations. This study concludes that integrating SEL into nonformal education holds substantial potential to improve the quality of life for marginalized communities. Therefore, inclusive policy support, facilitator training, and culturally adaptive approaches are essential. This research contributes to developing education science, particularly in creating holistic nonformal education models to enhance community well-being.
