Abstract

Jihad is an obligation for all Muslims according to their respective abilities, but jihad has often been misinterpreted as war. The jihad ordered in the Qur’an is not limited to jihad in the meaning of war, but includes many other meanings. Jihad in the Mecca period was carried out not with war, but by devoting all abilities to face the polytheists with sentences that touched reason and heart because they saw the situation and condition of Muslims who were still weak and did not have physical strength. Meanwhile, jihad in the Medina period tended to be interpreted as ‘war’, namely the efforts of the Muslims to retaliate against the attacks aimed at them. In the Indonesian context, jihad is more interpreted as lust jihad, namely fighting the lusts that exist within oneself and also maintaining the noble national values.

Abstract

This study discusses religious moderation in Indonesia from the perspective of the Triune God according to Leonardo Boff. The contribution of this study is the contribution of the values of the Triune God according to Leonardo Boff for religious moderation in a pluralistic Indonesia. This study is a qualitative descriptive and utilizes a literature review method on religious moderation and Leonardo Boff’s books. This study finds that the Triune God according to Boff can be a model or inspiration for religious moderation in Indonesia today. Boff describes the communion of the Triune God with the terminology of perichoresis which describes the meaning of dwelling together, being together, and permeating each other between the Divine Persons of the Triune God. Perichoresis can be applied to the values of religious moderation that reflect brotherly relations, teach everyone to respect the differences between each other, heed the attitude of sharing feelings, justice for minorities and the majority, and uphold tolerance. This fellowship also invites others to unite with Him, which is relevant to Indonesia’s motto, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

Abstract

Abstract This study is a Biblical study that examines Proverbs 8:19 and John 15:4-5. The text Proverbs 8:19 speaks of the fruit of wisdom which is more precious than gold and silver. The text John 15:4-5 speaks of Jesus as a vine, whoever abides in Him will bear much fruit. This study uses the exegesis method. The library sources in this study are the Indonesian Holy Bible published by LAI and commentary books. This study found that the fruit referred to in the text Proverbs 8:19 is answered in John 15:4-5. By staying with Jesus, a person also lives in His love. The disciples were sent to share love among themselves and also with others. That love invites everyone to take an active part in it. By loving each other, they became disciples of Jesus because they had shown the Father's love to the world. This is the fruit of love that is more valuable than gold and silver. This precious fruit has implications for human life, especially for the life of religious communities in building communities based on love.
