Abstract

This research explores the role of Islamic values in social entrepreneurship by comparing the ethos, motivations, and practices of Muslim and non-Muslim entrepreneurs. The aim is to understand how religious beliefs influence entrepreneurial behavior in the context of creating positive social change. This research uses qualitative methods with case studies on Muslim and non-Muslim entrepreneurs involved in various fields of social entrepreneurship. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation. The results showed that Islamic values such as justice, generosity, and social responsibility play an important role in motivating and guiding Muslim entrepreneurs in their activities. Muslim entrepreneurs have a strong commitment to helping communities and creating positive social change. However, there are some differences in ethos and practice between Muslim and non-Muslim entrepreneurs. Abstract

The Waqf Awareness Movement, launched by the International Center of Awqaf Studies, aims to enhance the understanding and participation of students and the Indonesian public in waqf practices. This study employs a literature review method, analyzing previous studies and academic literature related to the waqf awareness movement and its socio-economic impacts. By synthesizing various scholarly sources, this research explores how education, socialization, and access to information have contributed to increasing public awareness and participation in waqf. The findings indicate that waqf holds significant potential to improve community economic empowerment, strengthen social welfare, and promote solidarity. Furthermore, the literature review reveals that increased engagement in waqf extends beyond donations to include the management and utilization of waqf assets for community development. This study highlights the important role of educational and socialization initiatives in raising awareness of waqf's benefits, aiming to encourage greater public participation. The research emphasizes the need to strengthen these initiatives to maximize waqf's contribution as a tool for sustainable social and economic development. Through deeper understanding of waqf, the public is better prepared to regard it as an effective instrument for community advancement, reinforcing social values, and promoting solidarity.

Abstract

The relationship between Islamic law and human rights is a complex and controversial topic. Imam Ghazali, a prominent Muslim scholar, put forward the concept of Hifdz Nafs, which emphasizes the importance of protecting the human soul (Hifdz Nafs). Meanwhile, Bertrand Russell, a Western philosopher, espoused a humanistic philosophy that prioritizes the dignity and rights of individuals. This research aims to analyze and compare Imam Ghazali's views on Hifdz Nafs with Bertrand Russell's humanistic philosophy. By comparing these two perspectives, this research hopes to find fundamental similarities and differences that can enrich discussions on Islamic law and human rights. This research uses a qualitative method with a comparative approach. Data was collected through a literature study of the works of Imam Ghazali and Bertrand Russell, as well as relevant academic research. The analysis was conducted by comparing the main concepts of the two figures, as well as reviewing their historical and philosophical contexts. The results show that despite significant differences in their theological and philosophical foundations, both Imam Ghazali and Bertrand Russell recognize the importance of human protection and dignity. Imam Ghazali emphasizes the importance of the safety of the soul as part of maqashid al-shariah, while Russell emphasizes individual rights as the core of humanistic philosophy. This research provides new insights into how Islamic law and Western philosophy can dialogue and interconnect in an effort to strengthen the protection of human rights. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a basis for further discussion and the development of more inclusive policies.
