Abstract

Senduduk leaf flour (Melastoma malabatricum L.) is a processed product from weed plants that can potentially be a source of nutrients and bioactive compounds that are beneficial for human and livestock health. This research aims to examine the immunity and productivity of quail during the egg-laying period by administering senduduk leaf flour. This study used 120 female quail aged 40 weeks, which were kept for 4 weeks. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design. The treatment of providing senduduk leaf flour in feed consisted of four treatment levels, namely P0 (without flour), P1 (feed + 1.5% flour), P2 (feed + 3% flour), and P3 (feed + 4.5% flour). The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and descriptive analysis. The results showed that adding senduduk leaf meal can reduce egg yolk cholesterol and increase quail immunity. Adding senduduk leaf meal at a 3% level produced the best immunity and performance, with a feed conversion value of 2.81. The 4.5% addition of senduduk leaf flour produced the lowest cholesterol level in quail egg yolk. Keywords: egg quality, immunity, performance, quail, senduduk leaf

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi tepung daun senduduk (Melastoma malabathricum L.) dalam pakan terhadap konsumsi pakan, produksi telur, dan konversi pakan pada puyuh (Coturnix coturnix japonica) selama periode bertelur. Sebanyak 128 ekor puyuh betina berumur 40 minggu digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan: P0 (kontrol tanpa tepung daun senduduk), P1 (pakan + 1,5% tepung daun senduduk), P2 (pakan + 3% tepung daun senduduk), dan P3 (pakan + 4,5% tepung daun senduduk). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung daun senduduk hingga 3% meningkatkan produksi telur hingga 73,25% dengan efisiensi konversi pakan terbaik (2,81). Namun, suplementasi 4,5% menurunkan efisiensi pakan akibat tingginya kandungan tanin yang berpotensi mengikat protein. Kesimpulannya, suplementasi tepung daun senduduk sebesar 3% dalam pakan merupakan dosis optimal untuk meningkatkan performa produksi puyuh. Kata Kunci: Performa Produksi; Puyuh; Tepung Daun Senduduk

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan kalsium serta menilai tingkat kesukaan konsumen terhadap kerupuk yang diformulasikan dengan penambahan tepung tulang ayam melalui uji organoleptik. Level konsentrasi tepung tulang ayam yang digunakan pada penelitian ini P0 = 0% (kontrol), P1 = 10%, P2 = 20%, P3 = 30%. Parameter ukur meliputi kandungan kalsium serta karakteristik organoleptik (rasa, warna, tekstur dan aroma) dengan melibatkan 16 penelis semi-terlatih menggunakan uji hedonik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung tulang memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap semua parameter yang diuji. Secara keseluruhan, penggunaan tepung tulang mampu meningkatkan nilai gizi kerupuk serta kadar kalsium. Disarankan untuk penelitian lebih lanjut, perlu dilakukan optimasi konsentrasi penambahan dan perbaikan metode pengolahan agar mutu organoleptk yang dihasilkan tetap terjaga tanpa menurunkan kandungan kalsium. Abstract

Molasses Multinutrient Soft (MMS), an innovative alternative livestock feed formulated from agro-industrial waste products such as molasses, tofu dregs, coconut cake, rice bran, salt, and a mineral mix, was evaluated for nutrient stability during storage. Feed storage was conducted on a laboratory scale. This study employed a completely randomized design across 0, 10, 20, and 30-day storage periods, revealing that storage significantly influenced (p < 0.05) key quality parameters, including moisture, dry matter, organic matter, ether extract, and acid-insoluble ash. While crude protein and nitrogen-free extract remained stable, significant changes (p < 0.05) were observed in fiber fractions (neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, and hemicellulose) and phosphorus content. These alterations, predominantly driven by microbial activity and environmental conditions, suggest that MMS maintains safe storage limits for up to 30 days. A strong correlation between moisture and dry matter was observed during storage, a key attribute that determined the feed's nutritional quality. This study offers valuable insights into the post-production quality of alternative feeds, underscoring MMS's potential as a viable and promising feed option for smallholder livestock farmers, particularly under minimal storage conditions. Further investigation is required regarding the effects of prolonged feed storage on the physical and chemical characteristics of MMS.
