Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this research was to investigate the challenges faced by junior high school students in solving social arithmetic problems. Methodology: This research method is a qualitative method with descriptive research type. This research was carried out at one of the Pekanbaru junior high schools with class VII subjects at Da`wah Pekanbaru Middle School, with a total of 30 students. Results: The data collection technique used in this research is a written test technique in the form of a description consisting of 5 questions. After students complete the questions, the answers will be analyzed and when the researcher finds unique answer results, the researcher will conduct an interview. Conclusions: Based on the research results, it was found that students' difficulties in solving social arithmetic problems were 1) difficulty in understanding the information from the questions, 2) difficulty in understanding the concept correctly. 3) lack of accuracy in the solution process and 4) time constraints which cause students to not be able to complete the questions properly and correctly. Recommendations: It is hoped that the results of this research will allow teachers to guide and overcome the difficulties faced by students so that students can develop their abilities in mathematics, especially social arithmetic material.

Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of analyzing the abilities of high school level students in solving relationship and function problems. This research method is a qualitative method with descriptive research type. This research was carried out at one of Pekanbaru High School with subjects in classes X.1 and X.2 at YLPI Pekanbaru High School, with a total of 6 students. The data collection technique used in this research is a written test technique in the form of a description consisting of 2 questions. After the students have completed the questions, the results of the answers will be analyzed by the researcher as a percentage of the students' results and the researchers will conduct interviews with the students regarding the answers they made. Based on the research results, the percentage of the "Visual Representation" indicator was 79.16%, which is included in the high category. Then the indicator "Mathematical Equations or Expressions" was 66.66%, which was included in the high category. Finally, the "Words or Written Text" indicator is 50%, which is in the medium category. Furthermore, the percentage of questions for mathematical representation ability is 80% for question number 1, in the high category and 88.33% for question number 2, in the very high category. So a conclusion can be drawn from the score obtained by the students, namely 84.16%, which is included in the very high category. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide maximum guidance for teachers to develop students' abilities in mathematics, especially relation and function material. Abstract

Kecemasan siswa terhadap matematika merupakan salah satu faktor internal yang akan menghambat proses pembelajaran siswa, terutama dalam kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan suatu permasalahan matematika.  Kecemasan matematis dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep matematika, mengidentifikasi masalah, dan mengembangkan solusi yang tepat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian tentang pengaruh kecemasan matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat penting untuk dilakukan, guna memahami bagaimana kecemasan matematis mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika dan untuk mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh kecemasan matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas VIII MTs Masmur Pekanbaru tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan ex post facto dengan melibatkan siswa kelas VIII MTs Masmur Pekanbaru tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan sampel sebanyak 47 orang siswa. Instrumen penilaian yaitu instrumen kecemasan matematis dan instrumen kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Data penelitian yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian melalui uji regresi linier sederhana diperoleh nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari   yaitu . Sehingga terdapat pengaruh kecemasan matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa dengan persamaan regresinya adalah . Besar pengaruh kecemasan matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar . Sedangkan sisanya sebesar  dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain yang tidak diteliti pada penelitian ini
