Abstract

This research aims to describe the work environment in the furniture industry based on the suitability of workers and job characteristics. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and is conducted on cases in the furniture industry in West Java, Indonesia. Data collection techniques are performed using interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed inductively. The research results show that the work environment in the carved furniture industry can be identified based on the suitability of job characteristics. They are work risks faced by establishing safe work environment boundaries, worker characteristics regarding their role by work procedures and work experience, and the value of the agreement norms that form safe environmental behavior and interactions. Furthermore, the results can be used as recommendation material for further research related to work environment issues that dig deeper into other phenomena based on cultural characteristics, safety behavior, and wage mechanisms so that the utility value of wages and risks received can be known.

Abstract

Studi kualitatif ini mengeksplorasi peran teknologi dalam mengubah manajemen sumber daya manusia (SDM) dalam perusahaan furnitur menengah. Kemajuan teknologi, khususnya penerapan Sistem Informasi Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM), merupakan pendorong penting dalam meningkatkan efisiensi administratif, menyederhanakan proses perekrutan, dan meningkatkan aksesibilitas data. Penelitian ini menangkap perspektif bernuansa tentang bagaimana teknologi berkontribusi pada efektivitas SDM dan produktivitas organisasi dengan menggunakan wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan manajer SDM, staf operasional, dan spesialis TI. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan manfaat yang signifikan, termasuk peningkatan transparansi dan akurasi dalam evaluasi kinerja dan kepuasan karyawan yang lebih besar ketika inisiatif digital dijalankan secara inklusif. Namun, studi ini juga menyoroti tantangan penting, seperti kendala anggaran, penolakan terhadap perubahan, dan perlunya pelatihan yang komprehensif. Budaya organisasi dan keterlibatan manajemen puncak merupakan faktor penting dalam memastikan keberhasilan adopsi dan integrasi teknologi. Studi ini menggarisbawahi bahwa meskipun teknologi menawarkan potensi transformatif untuk SDM, dampaknya bergantung pada pendekatan implementasi strategis yang membahas dimensi teknis dan manusia. Rekomendasi praktis diberikan untuk perusahaan menengah yang ingin mengoptimalkan operasi SDM mereka melalui solusi teknologi, menekankan pentingnya membina budaya adaptabilitas dan berinvestasi dalam pengembangan keterampilan digital. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada literatur yang lebih luas tentang SDM dan teknologi, menawarkan wawasan berharga bagi perusahaan menengah yang menavigasi kompleksitas transformasi digital.

Abstract

Studi kualitatif ini mengeksplorasi pengalaman karyawan dalam menerapkan sistem sumber daya manusia (SDM) berbasis teknologi dalam industri kreatif di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menyoroti dampak transformasi digital pada operasi SDM, dengan fokus pada efisiensi operasional, kepuasan karyawan, dan dinamika tempat kerja. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan karyawan di berbagai tingkat organisasi yang berinteraksi langsung dengan sistem SDM. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan peningkatan signifikan dalam efisiensi operasional, seperti proses administrasi yang lebih cepat dan lebih akurat serta aksesibilitas yang lebih baik terhadap data karyawan. Namun, tantangan terkait adaptasi, khususnya di antara karyawan yang lebih tua atau mereka yang memiliki keterbatasan kemampuan teknologi, juga diidentifikasi. Tantangan ini menekankan perlunya program pelatihan yang komprehensif dan dukungan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan penerimaan karyawan. Selain itu, penelitian ini menyoroti peran keterlibatan manajemen dan komunikasi yang efektif dalam menumbuhkan pengalaman positif selama proses implementasi. Melibatkan karyawan dalam pengembangan sistem dan menjaga komunikasi yang transparan mengurangi resistensi dan meningkatkan keterlibatan. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan berharga tentang interaksi industri kreatif antara teknologi dan praktik SDM. Meskipun manfaat potensial dari sistem SDM berbasis teknologi cukup besar, keberhasilannya bergantung pada penanganan faktor manusia, seperti menumbuhkan budaya adaptabilitas dan memastikan kesiapan karyawan. Temuan ini menawarkan rekomendasi praktis bagi organisasi di industri kreatif untuk mengoptimalkan sistem SDM mereka melalui strategi inklusif, dengan menekankan pentingnya pelatihan berkelanjutan, dukungan manajerial, dan saluran komunikasi terbuka untuk mendorong inovasi dan produktivitas.

Abstract

Data-driven HR leadership is crucial for strategic decision-making, yet its implementation in Indonesia’s furniture industry remains understudied. This research examines data-based HR practices at Agung Jaya Putra Furniture, identifying challenges and opportunities in recruitment, performance evaluation, and workforce planning. A qualitative case study was conducted using interviews, observations, and document analysis, with data interpreted via the Miles and Huberman model. Results indicate strong data use in recruitment (78%) but weaker adoption in performance evaluation (65%) due to low data literacy. Workforce planning (72%) relies on historical data but lacks predictive analytics. Challenges include limited digital infrastructure and resistance to change, aligning with Anwar (2022) and Yusuf et al. (2024). Academically, this study enriches HRM literature in SME contexts; practically, it recommends investing in training and cloud-based analytics. The findings highlight the need for cultural and technological shifts to maximize data-driven HR’s potential, offering a roadmap for similar industries.

Abstract

Work-life balance (WLB) and work-life integration (WLI) are important issues in the modern world of work, especially in the furniture industry, which has high production demands and limited work flexibility. This study explores how employees at Agung Jaya Putra Furniture, Cirebon Regency, West Java, balance or integrate work with their personal lives. This research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and observation methods to understand the factors influencing the election of intermediate employees at WLB And WLI. Research shows that most employees experience difficulties implementing WLB due to long working hours and high production pressure. As a result, many are simultaneously adopting the WLI approach as an adaptive solution to managing work and personal life. However, the WLI approach also has challenges, especially regarding blurring the boundaries between work and personal life, which can lead to burnout and stress. Some employees benefit from flexibility, while others complain about the lack of rest time and social life. This study confirms that there is no universal solution for all employees because individual factors and the work environment influence preferences for WLB or WLI. Academically, this research contributes to understanding work-life balance and integration in a high-demand industry. From a practical perspective, companies are advised to consider more flexible policies to improve workforce welfare. Further studies with a broader scope are needed to understand the dynamics of WLB and WLI in various industrial sectors.

Abstract

The manufacturing industry is currently increasingly faced with the challenge of increasing operational efficiency to maintain competitiveness. One approach that has proven effective in achieving this goal is the application of lean management principles. This article aims to dig deeper into how lean management principles can be applied in the context of the manufacturing industry to increase operational efficiency. The research method used is literature analysis, which searches literature through academic databases, online libraries and related literature sources. Literature selection will be carried out by paying attention to criteria such as relevance, author credibility, and year of publication to ensure the selection of up-to-date and high-quality literature. The results of this research include the application of lean management principles in the manufacturing industry, which positively impacts operational efficiency. By eliminating waste, encouraging employee participation, implementing JIT concepts, and leveraging technology, companies can achieve higher productivity goals, maintain a competitive advantage, and face market challenges more responsively. Thus, the manufacturing industry can benefit significantly from implementing lean management principles to remain competitive in a dynamic business environment. The success of this implementation depends on the company's commitment to changing work culture, engaging employees, and continuously seeking innovation to continuously improve operational efficiency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan transformasi digital dalam meningkatkan kinerja dan daya saing toko furnitur di era digital. Fokus utama penelitian ini meliputi implementasi e-commerce, strategi omnichannel, penggunaan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) dan Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), serta pengembangan aplikasi mobile untuk meningkatkan pengalaman pelanggan. Penelitian ini juga membahas pentingnya pengelolaan data pelanggan, keamanan informasi, serta evaluasi pengembalian investasi (ROI) dalam transformasi digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa transformasi digital, melalui penerapan berbagai teknologi dan strategi pemasaran digital, berhasil memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan interaksi pelanggan, dan mendorong loyalitas pelanggan. Meskipun demikian, tantangan seperti kebutuhan akan infrastruktur teknologi yang memadai dan perlindungan data pelanggan perlu diatasi. Secara keseluruhan, penerapan transformasi digital membawa dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan bisnis dan daya saing toko furnitur di pasar global yang semakin kompetitif.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of transformational leadership and organizational culture on furniture industry employee performance, focusing on CV. Agung Jaya Putra Furniture. The decline in employee performance from September 2023 to January 2024 is a significant concern. Using a narrative qualitative approach, this research examines the influence of leadership and organizational culture on employee performance through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and document analysis from various levels of management and employees. The results show that transformational leadership and positive organizational culture significantly affect employee performance. Transformational leadership, which involves ideal influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, creates a motivating work environment. In addition, an organizational culture that supports collaboration, innovation, and recognition also plays a vital role in improving employee performance. Job satisfaction mediates between leadership style, organizational culture, and employee performance. Research recommendations include developing leadership training programs, maintaining a positive organizational culture, attention to factors influencing job satisfaction, adopting flexible management approaches, and integrating transformational leadership values and organizational culture into daily management practices. These findings provide valuable insights for human resource management practitioners and organizational leaders to improve employee performance and long-term business success in the furniture industry. Implementing effective leadership strategies and developing a positive organizational culture is critical to achieving optimal employee performance and overall company success
