Abstract

This research addresses the issue of social inequality caused by the use of gadgets, which separates the younger generation from traditional values and religious practices, threatening silaturrahmi and social harmony. However, the art of Madurese Classical Hadrah, particularly as performed by the Baiturrahim Group in Jaddung Village, is emerging as a potential solution to this challenge. This research focuses on the implementation of Madurese Classical Hadrah art in the community, especially in Ketapang Hamlet, as well as the role of Islamic da'wah delivered through this art. The research method used is a qualitative field approach using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection tools, as well as source and time triangulation to ensure data validity. The results showed that the Baiturrahim Group uses Hadrah art to convey Islamic preaching through sholawat verses containing Islamic messages. This art performance not only builds social ties and togetherness in the community, but also plays an important role in preserving religious and cultural traditions. The younger generation is actively involved in the implementation of this Hadrah art through education and social activities such as arisan organized by this group. The conclusion of this research is that Madurese classical Hadrah art is not just an art performance, but also a profound platform to strengthen love for the Prophet through verses of sholawat. The art of Hadrah is effective in building solid social ties within the community and plays a role in preserving religious and cultural traditions. The implementation of Hadrah art by the community, especially through the active participation of the younger generation, as well as social activities such as arisan, shows a real commitment to maintaining traditional arts in Jaddung Village, Pragaan, Sumenep.

Abstract

The development of digital culture has given rise to memes as a form of popular expression used by society, especially among young people, to convey social and political criticism. Memes offer quick, visual, and meaningful message delivery, but also present ethical and legal challenges. This study aims to analyze the function of memes in the practice of freedom of expression and to examine the boundaries between creativity, social norms, and digital regulations. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature study. Data sources were obtained from scientific journals, online news, academic books, and relevant legal documents. Thematic descriptive analysis was conducted to identify the role of memes as a tool for criticism and the dynamics of the challenges involved. The findings show that memes can serve as a participatory medium in shaping public opinion and voicing criticism on socio-political issues. However, challenges such as loss of context, opinion polarization, and the risk of criminalization under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) remain significant obstacles. Therefore, improving digital literacy and adopting adaptive policy approaches are necessary to ensure that expression through memes remains within ethical and democratic boundaries.
