Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a common global health problem that causes disability, increases medical costs, and leads to labor loss. Eighty percent of the population has experienced low back pain at some point in their lives. Chronic low back pain is often associated with comorbidities, significant healthcare costs, and increased use of health services. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in reducing pain in LBP patients. This study uses a literature review method with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study involved 142 samples, predominantly athletes over 40 years old. The TENS intervention was applied with a frequency of 5 times per week, intensity of 100 Hz, and a duration of 15 minutes for 6 weeks. Pain measurements were conducted using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMQ). The results showed that the intervention group using TENS experienced a significant reduction in pain compared to the control group, with a p-value of <0.001. TENS has proven to be an effective non-invasive therapy method for reducing chronic low back pain. In conclusion, TENS is an effective therapy modality for reducing chronic low back pain and can be used as a non-pharmacological alternative in the management of LBP. Further research is needed to explore the application of TENS in various other clinical conditions.

Abstract

When you do excessive exercise, you may start to feel pain in the muscles you use, such as your joints, bones and limbs. Complaints of pain or soreness caused by excessive exercise are called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of sports massage in reducing pain in doms. This study used a literature review approach. A literature review is a comprehensive analysis (not just a summary) of scientific documents directly related to a research question. The literature review was carried out using PICO searches in several databases such as Google Scholar. Criteria were met in 5 reviews that reported sports massage performed 3 times a week for 4 weeks for 20 minutes with moderate pressure (2 cm depth). Of the several articles found, most used RCTs, quasi-experimental study designs and clinical trials with P<0.05. Both the experimental and control groups received sports massage. It can be concluded that sports massage is effective in speeding up the athlete's recovery process.

Abstract

A common problem faced by adolescents during menstruation is primary dysmenorrhea. Symptoms include pain in the lower abdomen that can radiate to the back, waist, and thighs and interfere with activities. There is an effective treatment method to reduce pain intensity and reduce anxiety levels, namely by giving Slow Stroke Back Massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Slow Stroke Back massage on dysmenorrhea intensity. The research method used by the author is a literature review. This research is based on a literature review using a PICO search in several databases such as Google Scholar, Pubmed, and ResearchGate. 5 journals meet the criteria and get reports that giving Slow Stroke back massage which is done every day with a duration of 20 minutes if the intensity still occurs. After undergoing the intervention, a significance value with a p-value <0.05 was obtained. It can be concluded that it shows significant results in reducing pain intensity. The implications of this study may provide guidelines for health practitioners, especially massage therapists or reproductive health professionals, in integrating SSBMs as part of the care of patients with dysmenorrhea. It can improve understanding and acceptance of nonpharmacological therapies and may form the basis for continued research in the field of nonpharmacological therapies for dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that attacks the nervous system due to loss of blood supply to the brain and causes interference in carrying out daily activities with a prevalence of 10.9% in Indonesia. Stroke on average affects people aged 56 years. Mirror therapy is a therapeutic exercise that involves moving the body while observing the unaffected part to provide visual stimulation to the brain. The approach used in this study is a literature review or Literature Review. This study used a literature review approach, using a PICO search in various databases including Pubmed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. 5 journals met the criteria and showed the results that Mirror Therapy performed once a day for 15-50 minutes lasting for 2 months with a p-value <0.005 showed a significant impact in improving muscle and motor function of stroke patients. It can be concluded that mirror therapy is effective in strengthening muscles and can facilitate the recovery of motor function in stroke patients.
