Abstract

Global challenges are increasing as the prevalence of dementia increases. Dementia is considered a multifactorial disease. Dementia is a general term used to describe a range of symptoms that affect memory, thinking and the ability to perform daily activities. Alzheimer's is one of the most common types of dementia, accounting for 75% of all dementia cases. The method used in this article review is the contrast method. The contrast method is a journal/article review method by looking for differences between several research journals and then drawing conclusions. The results showed that alzheimer's is a growing health problem worldwide. The disease burdens the individual as well as the patient's family, which negatively affects the quality of life related to memory and cognitive function. Memory decline or dementia is most common in older people, caused by Alzheimer's disease. . The study concluded that vitamin D supplementation has the potential to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's in elderly patients. Vitamin D is known to play an important role in brain development and function, as well as cognition. Several studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's, while vitamin D supplementation may improve cognitive function and reduce beta-amyloid accumulation in the brain. However, the results are mixed and limitations remain, so further studies with better designs and larger samples are needed to confirm these findings and understand the underlying biological mechanisms

Abstract

Background:  Acute diarrhea is a medical condition with the second highest mortality rate after pneumonia. It is characterized by more than 14 days of frequent bowel movements with watery stools, leading to dehydration and the risk of electrolyte imbalance, often caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection. Purpose:   To explore therapeutic interventions for acute diarrhea in children with moderate and severe dehydration. Methods:  A systematic literature search was conducted across multiple databases, including ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar, using Boolean terms and specific filters to identify relevant articles. The inclusion criteria were full-text articles published between 2022 to 2025. Results:   A total of 10 articles met the predefined keywords and selection criteria. Conclusion:   Although rotavirus vaccination has proven to be effective, the selection and adaptation of vaccination strategies must be tailored to local conditions to achieve optimal outcomes in children with acute diarrhea accompanied by moderate to severe dehydration.

Abstract

Narcotics crimes are extraordinary crimes that have a wide impact on society. The handling of this case involves various parties, including judges who have an important role in making fair decisions. However, in practice, there is often a disparity in judges' decisions, especially in the application of Article 112 and Article 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Article 112 tends to be applied to perpetrators who are actually only abusers, thus causing injustice because the threat of punishment is much heavier than Article 127 which provides space for rehabilitation. This study examines the criminal disparity in the case of a.n Musa Siagian which shows significant differences between first-instance decisions, appeals, and cassation, including changes in the legal basis from Article 112 to Article 127 at the cassation level. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with an analysis of court decisions and relevant legal norms. The results of the study show that there are two tendencies in the judge's mindset: positivistic and non-positivistic. The judge of first instance and the appeal was considered not to consider the humanitarian aspect and the penal guidelines in SEMA Number 3 of 2015 Jo. SEMA Number 4 of 2010. On the contrary, the Supreme Court in its cassation decision emphasized more sociolegal approaches and substantive justice. This disparity is an important concern in the reform of the narcotics criminal justice system in Indonesia so that law enforcement is more proportionate and humane, especially for narcotics abusers.

Abstract

Correctional inmates are members of society who, unable to adapt to life in other communities, commit violations that require isolation and serve their sentences. During this process, they will be placed in a correctional institution (LAPAS). Law No. 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections regulates the right to health services for all inmates. This is a crucial factor for inmates in facilitating all correctional activities in the prison. The research was conducted in Binjai City, specifically at the Class II A Binjai Correctional Institution (Lapas) Office. This study used an empirical juridical approach. Data obtained in the field were presented descriptively using an empirical normative approach. This study aimed to determine the provision of health services to inmates at the Class II A Binjai Prison and the obstacles faced in providing these services to inmates at the Class II A Binjai Prison. Based on the author's research findings, the health services provided are in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. However, overcapacity has resulted in suboptimal services. Obstacles faced in providing health services to inmates come from within the inmates themselves, due to the large number of inmates not yet registered as BPJS Kesehatan holders, a lack of awareness of administrative regulations, and overcapacity, which results in suboptimal health services

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crucial role of museum guides in interpreting the collection of the Medan Indonesian Army (TNI) Struggle Museum (Kodam I/BB), focusing specifically on the Medan Area Incident (1945–1947). While the museum houses valuable artifacts, the effectiveness of delivering the historical narrative often relies on human intervention. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, this research gathered data through in-depth interviews with guides, observation of guiding sessions, and analysis of curatorial documents. The findings indicate that guides act as 'Narrative Carvers,' transforming static artifacts into a living and emotional historical experience. Key strategies utilized by the guides include locality-based storytelling, connecting artifacts with the actual geography of Medan City, and contextual presentation of key figures in the North Sumatran struggle. Guides function not merely as information providers, but as emotional bridges and agents for the conservation of collective memory. This study recommends prioritizing guide empowerment through intensive training in local historiography and sensitive interpretation techniques, as this is crucial for enhancing public education quality and preserving the historical memory of the Medan Area.
