Abstract

Hadith criticism (Naqd al-Hadis) in the view of Hadith scholars has the highest urgency to determine the quality and originality of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In Naqd al-Hadis itself, sanad criticism dominates over matan. As time progressed, the study of Hadith also developed which then gave birth to new methods in an effort to determine the originality of Hadith in accordance with the scientific tendencies pursued. One of these new methods is Kashf. Kashf as a method used in determining the originality of Hadith is proposed and approved by the majority of Sufi scholars. Whereas in the view of almost the majority of Hadith scholars, the Kashf method is considered to violate the scientific rules that they have created in an effort to preserve Hadith. al-Suyuti, as part of Hadith scholars, has a different view from the majority of other Hadith scholars. According to him, the Kashf method as an assessment of Hadith originality can be used as a second alternative. This is because al-Suyuti experienced Kashf himself, he often met with the Prophet Muhammad to ask about the authenticity of a Hadith. This research uses a literature review by analyzing documents that explain al-Suyuti's views on Kashf. Data processing is done by descriptive analysis method to find out Kashf in al-Suyuti's view. The results of this study show that al-Suyuti accepted the Kashf method as a second alternative in assessing the originality of Hadith. Al-Suyuti's acceptance requires that the Hadiths judged original through the Kashf method are in accordance with and do not violate the Hadiths that have been agreed upon by Hadith scholars. Keywords:  Kashf, Hadith, Originality, Al-Suyuti.

Abstract

Digital transformation has changed the landscape of Islamic da'wah in Indonesia, including in the production and dissemination of exclusive religious discourse by Salafi groups. This study analyzes the Instagram account @ittiba_salaf, which consistently frames religious pluralism as a deviation from Islamic creed, by referring to verses of the Qur’an and hadith. This study uses Robert M. Entman's framing analysis approach, which includes four main elements—problem definition, cause diagnosis, moral evaluation, and solution recommendation—combined with  Maʿānī al-Ḥadīth analysis to reveal the ideological instruments underlying the use of hadith. The findings show that this account constructs pluralism as a theological and ideological threat, associated with Western liberalism and categorized as a form of kufr. This narrative represents theological reductionism that ignores the complexity of Indonesia’s pluralistic society. This study emphasizes that digital da'wah not only conveys religious messages, but also becomes an arena for contestation over the meaning and authority of Islam, requiring a moderate hermeneutical approach to bridge theological commitments with the reality of societal diversity.

Abstract

Polygamy remains a controversial issue in contemporary Islamic discourse, causing tension between the legitimacy of hadith texts and their social implications for gender justice. This study explores the construction of discourse on polygamy in the digital space through a netnographic approach to the Instagram account @khalidbasalamahofficial. The analysis focuses on the representation of hadiths on justice in polygamy and how the public responds to, affirms, or criticizes the content of these sermons. The results show that hadiths are selectively represented to affirm the legality of polygamy in Islamic law, while also functioning as a symbolic instrument in building digital religious authority. However, public interactions give rise to negotiations of meaning that indicate an epistemic transformation, in which religious authority shifts from formal institutions to a more participatory digital public sphere. In this context, the Qirā’ah Mubādalah approach offers a reinterpretative framework that emphasizes the principles of reciprocity and justice, demanding the realization of equal social relations and fair and dignified treatment of women. Thus, polygamy is not only understood as a permissible practice but also as an arena for moral reflection, affirming that balance, equality, and mutual benefit are at the core of religious authority and practice in the digital age.
