Abstract

The productivity of green beans according to BPS North Sumatra data for 2021 from 2019 to 2021 has decreased, with an average of 2.52%. One of the causes of decreased green bean productivity is the occurrence of thrips pest attacks. One alternative that can be done to overcome thrips pests is to use plant-based pesticides. This study aims to determine the effect of applying a combination of lemongrass and kenikir vegetable pesticides on thrips on the vegetative growth of green bean plants and to determine the most effective concentration of the use of vegetable pesticides. This study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD), namely concentrations (P0 = control; P1 = 100 ml of lemongrass and marigold extracts/L water; P2 = 200 ml of lemongrass and marigold extracts/L of water; P3 = 300 ml of lemongrass and marigold extracts and kenikir/L of water). The results showed that P3 (300 ml/L) treatment had a very significant effect on attack intensity of 14.91%, attack percentage of 25.35% and leaf area index of 0.46cm. Meanwhile, each treatment P0, P1, P2, P3 had no significant effect on plant height and leaf chlorophyll levels.

Abstract

Produktivitas kacang hijau menurut data BPS Sumatera Utara tahun 2021 sejak tahun 2019 hingga 2021 mengalami penurunan yaitu dengan rata-rata 2,52%. Penyebab menurunnya produktivitas kacang hijau salah satunya adalah terjadinya serangan hama thrips. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasai serangan hama thrips adalah menggunakan pestisida nabati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pestisida nabati kombinasi serai dan kenikir terhadap hama thrips pada pertumbuhan vegetatif tanaman kacang hijau serta untuk mengetahui konsentrasi paling efektif dari penggunaan pestisida nabati. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Non Faktorial, yaitu konsentrasi (P0 = kontrol ; P1 = 100 ml ekstrak serai dan kenikir/L air; P2 = 200 ml ekstrak serai dan kenikir/L air; P3 = 300 ml ekstrak serai dan kenikir/L air). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P3(300 ml/L) berpengaruh sangat nyata pada intensitas serangan sebesar 14,91%, persentase serangan sebesar 25,35% dan indeks luas daun sebesar 0,46cm. Adapun pada setiap perlakuan P0,P1,P2,P3 tidak berpengaruh nyata pada tinggi tanaman dan kadar klorofil daun.

Abstract

Students’ low ability to appreciate children’s stories, particularly in understanding intrinsic elements such as characters, plot, setting, and moral message, as well as their low creativity in expressing story comprehension, constitutes an important problem in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. This condition is influenced by learning that remains teacher-centered and the lack of use of engaging media. This study aims to improve creativity and the ability to appreciate children’s stories through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by digital comic media among Grade V students at SD Negeri 091641 Bandar Tinggi. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which was implemented in two cycles, with each cycle including the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 27 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation using instruments in the form of observation sheets and assessment rubrics for creativity and understanding of the intrinsic elements of stories. The results showed a significant improvement from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. In the pre-cycle, students in the high creativity category reached only 33.33%, whereas those in the low category reached 37.03%. In Cycle I, the high creativity category increased to 68.18%, and in Cycle II it reached 81.48%, with no students in the low category. The ability to understand the intrinsic elements of stories also improved, as reflected in students’ ability to identify characters, understand the plot sequentially, recognize the setting completely, and find the moral message in their own words. The use of digital comics as a learning stimulus helped students understand stories in a visual, engaging, and meaningful way. The conclusion of this study affirms that the implementation of PjBL assisted by digital comics can improve creativity and the ability to appreciate children’s stories. The implications of this study indicate that project-based learning with digital comic media provides space for students to be actively involved, think creatively, collaborate, and express ideas and imagination through real works in the form of scrapbooks and dioramas.
