Abstract

The language environment is a crucial factor in enhancing the language acquisition process, or the language environment consists of everything that students may see and hear in their surroundings in order to acquire a new language spontaneously. In addition, the language environment contributes considerably to improving and developing students' English-speaking abilities. Moreover, there are three fundamental components to any successful language learning: the language, the learners, and the learning method. In order to achieve effective language acquisition, the learner, the language being learned, and the language learning process, which includes the language environment, must interact ideally. However, the primary objective of employing a language environment as a learning medium is to ensure that students as information receivers absorb as much knowledge as possible in the form of information and messages. Therefore enhancing their speaking abilities. On the other hand, macro and micro contextual factors must be used to create a language environment. This research aims to find out the influence of the language environment on the achievement of English speaking skills for students in one of the dormitories under the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, namely the Natural Sciences Major dormitory, which is then applied to foreign language development institutions to meet the macro and micro requirements of the language environment for the 2021/2022 academic year. In this case, the researcher used 20 students of elementary level as samples from the population, which was selected by purposive sampling. Meanwhile, the quantitative method with a pre-experimental model applies pre-test and post-test instruments. The researcher also used an oral test in conducting his research with a total of 10 questions. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of the language environment in improving English speaking skills for Natural Sciences Major dormitory students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection in resolving consumer disputes in Indonesia, and to identify the challenges faced in its implementation. This study uses a normative legal method with a statutory approach and case analysis. Data were obtained through a literature study covering primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, as well as an analysis of various consumer dispute cases that have been resolved through the Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency (BPSK) and the courts. The results of the study indicate that Law No. 8 of 1999 provides a clear legal framework for the protection of consumer rights. Dispute resolution through BPSK is more efficient than litigation, but there are still obstacles, such as low legal awareness among consumers and non-compliance of business actors with BPSK decisions. These challenges hinder the optimization of consumer protection. Although Law No. 8 of 1999 has functioned well in providing protection, corrective measures are needed, including increasing socialization, strengthening BPSK, and stricter law enforcement against violations. Thus, it is expected that consumer protection can be more effective and provide better justice.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of central government policies in shaping educational outcomes, particularly as reflected in the results of the 2024-2025 Education Report Card. By focusing on key indicators such as literacy, numeracy, and overall learning quality, this research seeks to understand not only improvements in student performance but also the broader implications of policy implementation across different educational levels. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes secondary data to identify trends and patterns that reveal both the successes and shortcomings of current educational strategies. The findings indicate notable improvements in primary school numeracy, which increased by 7.95 points, and literacy, which rose by 1.65 points. However, the quality of learning, as measured by classroom practices and pedagogical effectiveness, experienced a decline of 2.23 points. At the junior high school level, a similar trend emerges: numeracy scores improved by 2.77 points, while literacy slightly decreased by 0.18 points, and learning quality dropped by 0.75 points. These results suggest that while students are achieving higher scores in measurable areas such as literacy and numeracy, these gains are not translating into improved educational experiences, likely due to the prevalence of “teaching to the test” strategies. Consequently, the region continues to rank among the lowest nationally in terms of holistic educational quality. Future research should explore more structured clinical mentoring models and emphasize continuous monitoring of regional education policies to ensure sustainable and meaningful improvements in educational quality.
