Abstract

Chemotherapy is a therapy that involves the use of chemicals or drugs in cancer treatment. Some patients experience anxiety during chemotherapy procedures that can adversely affect the treatment process. Caring is the ability to show concern, feelings of empathy and feelings of love or affection for the patient. ICARE is expected to reduce the anxiety level of patients undergoing chemotherapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between ICARE implementation and the anxiety level of chemotherapy patients in the One Day Care room of a private hospital in Bandung. This study uses quantitative methods, descriptive correlation design, cross-sectional approach with incidental sampling techniques and obtained 110 respondents. Collecting data using a questionnaire, the results of the univariate analysis showed that 43.6% of ICARE implementation was very high, and 51.8% experienced mild anxiety levels. Bivariate analysis using spearman rank with the result there is a very strong and significant relationship between ICARE implementation and anxiety level, with a negative relationship direction. Hospitals need to carry out regular training to improve the abilities and competencies of nurses so that nurses have the ability and desire to work creatively and dare to make new ideas for better changes.
