Abstract

Abstract

Studying while working is a phenomenon that is often found in universities. Students who study while working are required to maintain a balance between these two roles, as students and workers. A fairly common problem for students who study while working is to end up delaying assignments, often termed as academic procrastination, due to experiencing academic burnout. This research aims to determine the relationship between academic burnout and academic procrastination in students who work part-time. This research used a correlational quantitative approach involving 103 students studying in Semarang City, who are at the same time working part-time for 16-35 hours per week. Measures used were the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) to measure academic burnout and the academic procrastination scale to measure student academic procrastination. Based on the Pearson Product Moment correlation test, it was found a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.496 and a significance level was 0.000 (p<0,01). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between academic burnout and academic procrastination in students who work part-time. Important findings and future directions are discussed further in this article.

Abstract

Retirement is a phase which has to be faced by a worker in the completion of his work duties. The preparation of the process draws attention to the people who experience it or the stakeholders to provide policies on the retirement matters. This research aims to provide information about the factors which influence the welfare of life (wellbeing) in retirement. The current study used a literature review that involved nine journals that studied retirement. This research was conducted by searching for articles using an application called Publish Perish by using two keywords “Retreatment” and “Pension”. The crossref (cross reference) search found that there are 5 journals from the keyword “Pension” and 10 journals from the keyword “retreatment”. After the exclusion, nine journals were obtained according to the researcher’s desire. The result of this research shows the factors affecting the retirement’s wellbeing which are categorized by: psychology, economics, social, gender and health. Psychology deals with loneliness, anxiety, or negative psychological factors. Economics deals with income and financial support in retirement. Social problems are more related to relationships in the family and the people around them who support retirement. The health factor is always presented in every retirement situation because health becomes a big expense in retirement.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of spiritual intelligence in sustaining the religious life of Catholic nuns from the perspective of religious psychology. Monastic life demands psychological fortitude, spiritual commitment, and adaptive ability in community dynamics and pastoral ministry. However, previous studies have tended to highlight resilience, religious experience, or emotional intelligence, while the contribution of spiritual intelligence has rarely been explored empirically. Source searches were conducted on the Scopus, Google Scholar, and Garuda databases with the keywords spiritual intelligence, religious life, Catholic nuns, and psychological resilience. Out of the initial 50 documents, 17 articles were selected according to the inclusion criteria and analyzed using the thematic approach of Braun and Clarke (2006). The synthesis of literature produces four main themes. First, spiritual intelligence becomes a source of meaning in life through the appreciation of religious vows, the practice of spiritual reflection, and pastoral service. Second, spiritual intelligence aids emotional–spiritual integration in the community by emphasizing prayer, reflection, and forgiveness to manage interpersonal conflicts. Third, spiritual intelligence encourages pastoral ministry as a form of personal relationship with God, not just an institutional obligation. Fourth, spiritual intelligence strengthens psychological resilience through the process of meaning-making and transcendence of self that allows nuns to transcend the ego and discover the depth of meaning of life. This study affirms spiritual intelligence as an important determinant of the quality of religious life and provides practical implications for Catholic nuns' formation programs that integrate spiritual and psychological formation.

Abstract

Dyslexia and mathematical disabilities (MD) are neurodevelopmental disorders that significantly impact academic achievement and require appropriate identification and intervention. This narrative review synthesizes empirical evidence on the application of the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) Model in mapping cognitive profiles of both conditions. A literature search was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, PsycINFO, and ERIC databases, focusing on publications from 2010-2025. Nine studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The available evidence, while limited, suggests differentiable but overlapping patterns: dyslexia is consistently associated with deficits in Auditory Processing (Ga) and Short-Term Memory (Gsm), with relative preservation of Fluid Reasoning (Gf). MD, based on limited direct evidence, appears characterized by deficits in Executive Functions and Visual Processing (Gv), with Gsm emerging as a potential common vulnerability factor. However, contradictory findings exist (e.g., Gv deficits reported in some dyslexia studies), and the MD evidence rests primarily on one study. Critical limitations include a small evidence base with no intervention studies, measurement challenges in CHC subtests, poor ecological validity, and overrepresentation of WEIRD samples. The CHC framework provides a useful structure for understanding cognitive diversity in learning disorders, but the evidence base remains too limited to support strong claims. Rigorous longitudinal research, direct comparisons of both conditions, and intervention trials are urgently needed.

Abstract

Childhood trauma is mainly caused by events that threaten a child’s growth, and development. It has a significant impact on children’s well-being. The high suicide rate comes from trauma factors that trigger self-harming behavior. Children who experience trauma are at risk of developing anxiety, eating disorders, sleep disorders, and suicidal thoughts. This study aimed to investigate the causes, and consequences of childhood trauma, as well as potential interventions for parents, and institutions. Using a scoping review method, we analyzed existing literature to identify the root causes of childhood trauma. Our findings suggest that psychological distress in children can persist into adulthood, leading to changes in attitudes, and behavior. Fortunately, psychological based interventions, such as Play Therapy, Forgiveness, and Self Resilience strategies can help mitigate the effects of childhood trauma.
