Abstract

Objective: This research aims to explore entrepreneurship courses' challenges and competency needs at Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEI) and develop a compatible learning design for these courses. Method: Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews with entrepreneurship lecturers to identify challenges and department heads to understand supporting policies and curriculum development. Additionally, Semester Learning Plans (RPS) content analysis was conducted to examine course content, competencies, and teaching methods. Results: The findings revealed inconsistencies in the entrepreneurship course designs across IHEI. Most courses focus on providing entrepreneurial insights and shifting students' mindsets, with limited practical experiences like essential product sales. Non-classroom entrepreneurship activities vary significantly depending on the lecturers' initiative and departmental coordination. Some departments did not prioritize these activities due to unclear guidance. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its proposed integrative learning design, which emphasizes knowledge internalization, skill-building, and attitude formation. The design includes four stages: mindset-building, business experience, start-up business, and business development, offering a structured approach to enhance entrepreneurial competencies in IHEI.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to evaluate the language aspects in the curriculum management for the International Class Program (ICP) at UIN Salatiga and UINSI Samarinda from an institutional perspective. It is qualitative research involving several informants, such as the ICP Directors, the Head of the Study Program, and the lecturers. Method: To gather the data, the researchers used observation, interview, and documentation. After collecting the data, the researchers perform analysis to answer research questions. In analyzing the result, the researchers refer to three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion (drawing/ verifying). Results: The results of the evaluation in the curriculum management of the ICP are analyzed using the CIPP evaluation model assessment, which comprises Context Evaluation, Input Evaluation, Process Evaluation, and Product Evaluation. Novelty: Through this assessment model, the researchers can find the existing curriculum that can support the language learning aspects and the opportunities for the ICP management to improve the curriculum on language aspects of learning to achieve the expected outcome.

Abstract

Objective: This research investigates the development of an educational management model for a Boarding Language Program (BLP) designed to enhance the language competencies of advanced English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners at the State Islamic University in Salatiga, Indonesia. The study aims to (1) analyze the learners’ language skill profiles before joining the program, (2) propose a comprehensive management model encompassing curriculum, infrastructure, and student admissions, and (3) evaluate the model’s acceptability and effectiveness. Method: A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative data collection, including observations, interviews, and assessments. Results: Results indicate that the BLP significantly improves language proficiency while fostering immersive, interactive learning experiences. The development model on educational management of boarding language programs on language aspects for advanced English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners is adequate or acceptable in improving learners’ language skills based on the result of the Wilcoxon test. Novelty: Findings suggest that the BLP offers significant potential for improving language skills and preparing students for global competitiveness, providing a replicable framework for other educational institutions.
