Abstract

Abstract

Kalang is a Javanese sub-ethnic within the Kalang tradition, which is an acculturation of ancient Javanese culture with Hindu culture coming from India. In everyday life, the Kalang women as a mother have a central role in the household activity of being responsible to the husband and children’s well-being. This cultural acculturation still exists in the lives of the Kalang people in Kendal, Central Java, Indonesia. In tradition, Kalang women have power in her position as a housewife, not in using her physical strenght, but to demonstrate the ability to think, manage time and control emotions in carrying out the three household activities of 1) domestic, 2) tradition, and 3) social activity. In today's modern era, gender equality becomes the central talk of how the Kalang society places women within a family that is judged not through the material she obtains, but by her responsibilities.. Through a deductive paradigm with ethnographic techniques, the research finds how powerful a mother is in managing the family. because  she succeeded in showing her role as head of the family, thus perfecting the role of men also as breadwinner, and in making her family life stable by continuously upholding the Kalang tradition.

The Gebang Putih area is a fairly densely populated settlement because each residence does not have an open yard. The activities of the youth or local residents are limited to gathering at locations outside the RW 003 environment. The results of observations and interviews with community leaders in RT. 02, it was found that residents of RW 003 needed a place for sports activities, gatherings, and discussions for residents of RW 003. The purpose of this community service was so that residents had a new activity center that was able to accommodate gathering, exercise, and socializing activities. This community service is expected to enable residents to carry out activities in a sustainable manner around their homes, thereby creating a friendly atmosphere and increasing a sense of brotherhood and harmony among residents. Abstract

Residents of RT.02 RT.003 Asempayung, in general, are indigenous people who have lived in the area for generations. The rapid development of the population has resulted in the narrowing of residential land because it has been divided among the heirs of children and grandchildren. The limited open land has resulted in several community activities being carried out on environmental roads. The Abdimas empowered the community to participate in mutual cooperation in completing the program. UKDC Architecture Study Program will carry out an activity program for the expansion of the community activity center in 2022 by: 1) Empowering the community to participate in the expansion of the activity center; 2) Together with the residents, they will procure sewer cover material as an expansion of the community's activity center. This is largely determined through good communication, social approaches and intense interaction with residents. The output obtained from this community service program is the expansion of the activity center for the residents of Asempayung RT.02 RW.003. This activity will cover the sewerage of dirty water which is about 2.5 meters wide. Closing the channel will form a space above it, which can be used as a center for residents' activities.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance motor skills of people with disabilities. Involving 28 participants from three communities in Semarang and Surabaya, the activity provided training in plywood bending using "F" clamps. Observations showed varying abilities: participants with excessive supervision demonstrated 0.25 normal strength, those without special supervision 0.50, and independent individuals achieved 0.9-1.0. These results indicate that independence in daily activities contributes to better motor skill development. The activity emphasized the importance of balancing protection with opportunities for people with disabilities to develop motor skills through light daily activities.
