INVESTIGATING THE FIFTH SEMESTER STUDENTS’ ABILITY OF STMIK PELITA NUSANTARA IN TOEFL Dani, Ersika Puspita

Abstract

The objectives of this descriptive qualitative study were (1) to find out the student?s ability in TOEFLand (2) to identify the TOEFL sub skills which were required in the improvement. Twenty threestudents of class MI V Reguler and Executive Class in STMIK Pelita Nusantara Lubuk Pakam wereconducted as participants. To examine students? TOEFL scores, a paper-based TOEFL test was used.The test scores were used to find out the students? ability at the beginning of the study. Then, theresults were analyzed to identify the students? problem in sub-skills of TOEFL. The data wereidentified and sub-skill was identified based on Phillips (2003). The findings of the study showed that:(1) the fifth semester students? ability of STMIK Pelita Nusantara in doing TOEFL test is at Poor levelwith the most dominant score is below 400, consists of 21 students in that level with 91.30%. Then,there were only a few students, 2 persons with the percentage 8.69%. (2) the fifth semester students?of STMIK Pelita Nusantara Nusantara is considered as the most difficult for them with the avarageof 5.28 is the listening, while reading section is considered as the easiest one for the fifth semesterstudents of STMIK Pelita Nusantara, with the average of 6.94. Based on the findings, it can beconcluded that overall all of the students in this study required further training to improve theirTOEFL scores; therefore, it recommended the development of module and training plans accordingto the outcomes of this analysis study.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa pelatihan penguasaanakan teknologi tepat guna dalam hal digital marketing dan penggunaan Bahasaasing dalam memasarkan produk kerajinan limbah anorganik. Strategi pemasarandan teknologi sebagai cara ampuh untuk meningakatkan keunggulan yangkompetitif. Mitra yang akan terlibat dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat iniadalah para siswa/i MTs Negeri 1 Deli Serdang, Kabupaten Deli Serdang,Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Kontribusi mitra adalah penyediaan tempat pelatihanbeserta fasilitas pendukung. Kegiatan luaran ini difokuskan pada produk barangkerajinan berupa souvenir yang dibuat dari limbah anorganik rumah tanggaseperti serbuk kayu, kain perca, aneka plastik bekas kemasan. Untuk menunjangkeberlangsungan kegiatan ekonomi ini maka perlu dibentuk Sentra Souvenir dilingkungan sekitar khalayak sasaran yang akan digunakan untukmengembangkan sistem produksi dan pemasaran yang mendukung sertaterciptanya wirausaha yang handal.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa pelatihan penggunaanaplikasi e-leraning Google Classroom bagi guru dalam hal peningkatan kualitaspengetahuan mengajar di masa pandemi covid 19. Mitra yang terlibat dalampengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah para guru-guru MTs Negeri 1 DeliSerdang, Propinsi Sumatera Utara. Hasil yang ditemukan adalah guru MTsNegeri 1 Deli Serdang telah dapat menguasai dan memahami penggunaanteknologi informasi dan komunikasi dengan baik guna menunjangkeberlangsungan kegiatan pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ) yang efektif danefesien.

Abstract

This qualitative research investigated the discursive struggle utterance in the discussion of Mata Najwa Program. This focused on finding out what kinds of discursive struggle. In conducting this research, having copy the video of Mata Najwa from website, utterance are transcribed, identified, and then analyzed according to Murni’s five strategies (2013: 59) to identify and to interpret the power of speech of Angel Lelga's utterances as a data. For findings, there were five struggles over value of Linguistic Politeness, namely: 5 utterances of Claiming common ground, 4 utterances of bringing forward accurate arguments and data, 3 utterances of minimizing imposition, 3 utterances of asserting reciprocity and 2 utterances of minimizing conflict and confrontation.

Abstract

AbstractThe research deals to experiental function. the problems of the study are What type of processes is dominantly used interned advertisement and Why are the dominant realities used. The objectives of the study are to investigate the dominant type of process used in advertisement and to describe causes of using the dominant types of processes in internet advertisements. the writer will collect the data qualitative research (qualitative data), and data will be get from some advertisements in Internet. Abstract

The objective of this descriptive qualitative study was to find out the keynote speaker to participant in online webinar by using zoom application. A keynote speaker has been conducted as a participant. To examine keynote speaker to participant, observation in zoom application were be used. The observation was be used to find out the keynote speaker’s interaction to participant. Then, the results were be analyzed to identify form of keynote speaker’s interaction. The results were 1) There were 3 forms of interaction used by keynote speaker to participant in online webinar, namely initiation move (I-Move), response move (R-Move), and Feedback Move (F-Move), and 2) The Initiation move (I-Move) was the most dominant interaction form used by keynote speaker to participant in online webinar and the least form was feedback move (F-Move).
