Abstract

Stunting is still a major health issue that influences children’s physical growth and development in Indonesia. Insufficient maternal knowledge and inadequate support from community nurses are factors that may increase the risk of stunting among young children. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and community nurse support with stunting incidence in early childhood. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied involving 42 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data collection used questionnaires and anthropometric measurements of height-for-age. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The findings revealed that 38.1% of children were stunted, while 61.9% had normal growth status. Significant associations were identified between maternal knowledge and stunting occurrence, as well as between community nurse support and stunting incidence. Better maternal understanding and stronger nurse support were associated with lower stunting rates. Health education and community nursing services should therefore be strengthened to reduce stunting prevalence.

Abstract

Stunting (short) or failure to grow is a condition that describes the undernutrition status that has a chronic nature during the growth and development of children from the beginning of life. Pregnant women who experience nutritional deficiencies can have an impact on stunting. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent stunting, one of the ways to prevent it with education to increase pregnant women's knowledge about nutrition. Education is obtained from various media, one of which is a booklet. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of educational booklet media about nutrition in pregnant women on maternal knowledge in the working area of the Ajangale Health Center. Method: The research design uses Quasi Experiment with a pre-test post test one group design. The sample used was 30 respondents with purposive sampling techniques. This research tool uses nutrition knowledge questionnaires and booklets. In this research, researchers used quantitative data analysis, namely consisting of univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. In this study, univariate analysis was used to determine maternal knowledge about nutrition in pregnant women to prevent stunting. Nutritional knowledge in pregnant women before the intervention using booklet media and nutritional knowledge in mothers after the intervention using booklet media. Results: The results of the study showed that before the knowledge education was carried out, the majority of respondents were in the sufficient category with an average score of 13.90 and after the knowledge education was carried out the majority of respondents were good with an average score of 19.32. The Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.023 which means that there is an effect of providing health education about nutrition in pregnant women Conclusions The booklet media can be an educational medium to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about nutritional needs during pregnancy.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal death and requires timely treatment. Communication failures during patient handovers often lead to delays in clinical intervention. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of implementing the SBAR communication model on the quality of handover information and the safety of preeclampsia patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design (pre-posttest) with 30 healthcare workers in the maternal care unit using a total sampling technique. The results showed that SBAR implementation significantly improved the accuracy of clinical data (p < 0.05), particularly in the Assessment and Recommendation components. Patient safety incidents decreased dramatically from 14 cases to 1 case during the observation period. The conclusion of this study is that the SBAR protocol effectively improves the quality of communication and the safety of preeclampsia patients through more structured early risk detection.
