Abstract

Village educational tourism is frequently framed through Community-Based Tourism (CBT), yet many initiatives stall in the pre-launch phase when local actors are unprepared. This study examines Awi Edu-tourism in Mekarsari Village, Garut Regency, to identify barriers to bamboo craftsmen’s participation and to formulate empowerment strategies. Guided by community participation theory, self-efficacy, and empowerment, the research used a qualitative case-study design with semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, followed by reflexive thematic analysis. Results show three interlinked constraints: limited understanding of edu-tourism beyond ‘produce-and-sell’ routines, low confidence to interact with visitors, and weak value awareness that craft knowledge can become an educational attraction. These conditions keep participation at an informational level rather than a substantive role in planning. Recommendations emphasise iterative concept workshops, scenario-based communication practice, and institutionalised artisan involvement in village forums with incentives. Findings contribute a pre-launch readiness map linking meaning, confidence, and institutional support to sustainable CBT. Keywords: Community Based Tourism, Edu-Tourism, Pre-Launch Readiness.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Madrasah Digital Learning (MDL) program at MA Persis Tarogong Garut using the CIPP (context, input, process, product) model to address digital transformation challenges without compromising traditional moral values. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with key informants, while secondary data were gathered through document analysis. Data collection techniques included participant observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using an interactive model and validated through triangulation. The results indicate that the context dimension is highly relevant in aligning science and technology (IPTEK) with religious faith (IMTAQ). The input dimension is adequate, supported by a balance of infrastructure and teacher competence, while the process dimension runs interactively via an LMS with effectively mitigated adaptation challenges. The product dimension demonstrates precise alignment with the institution’s vision, measured by increased student motivation and learning autonomy. The novelty of this study lies in the synthesis of program effectiveness through the convergence of the "Smart Ecosystem Trinity"Smart Classroom, Smart Library, and Rapor Digital Madrasah (RDM) which significantly enhances overall learning quality at MA Persis Tarogong Garut
