Abstract

This study aims to produce a product in the form of English learning textbooks to improve skills speaking, describe the design and implementation of English teaching materials that have been developed to improve speaking skills, describe the effectiveness of developing English teaching materials to improve speaking skills. This research includes the type of research and development (R&D) with stages, namely theoretical and practical studies, field studies, analysis of student and teacher needs, preparation of prototypes, expert tests, prototype revisions, limited trials, evaluations, and revisions of learning models. The population and sample of the study consisted of 40 students of class VIII MTs Walisongo Jepara. Collecting data using the method of observation, interviews, and literature study. This research focuses on the process of learning English for class VIII with the development of teaching materials as media used in English lessons. This research uses the qualitative data analysis method with data reduction, data presentation, conclusion or verification. The results of the study indicate that the design of developing English teaching materials to improve speaking skills is based on the principles of developing teaching materials which include accuracy of coverage and accuracy of content, completeness of components, presentation of language, and appropriate illustrations. The implementation of teaching materials was carried out 4 times in a limited trial. The development of English teaching materials to improve speaking skills was declared effective with an increase in students’ speaking skills in the psychomotor aspect with a mean pretest score of 73, and post-test 91, with an increase in N-Gain of 0.66 in the medium category.

Abstract

AbstrakMedia pembelajaran yang tepat, sangat mendukung keberhasilan pembelajaran baik dari segi kualitas maupun kuantitas. Oleh karenanya, pemilihan dan penggunaan media pembelajaran harus disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan kesesuaian materi.  Mengenalkan pesrta didik  bentuk bangun datar dan warna kebanyakan menggunakan gambar atau alat peraga  dalam jumlah banyak. Hal ini menjadikan pengajaran di sekolah terkesan ribet, guru terkesan kurang kreatif dan inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran di TK Pertiwi desa Bungu. Solusi yang ditawarkan pada program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah pembuatan “stik pelangi“ bagi guru TK Pertiwi Desa Bungu sebagai media pembelajaran bangun datar dan warna. ini diharapkan akan membentuk komunikasi pembelajaran yang efektif di antara guru dan peserta didik, karena proses pembelajaran akan lebih menarik dan mengesankan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra TK Pertiwi Desa Bungu yaitu (1) hasil pembelajaran materi bangun datar dan warna belum optimal. (2) guru TK Pertiwi Desa Bungu belum profesional dalam membuat media pembelajaran.  Stik Pelangia dalah program membuat media pembelajaran yang simple kreatif dan inovatif serta tidak membutukan biaya yang signifikan. Media ini dirancang dengan sedemikian rupa agar tujuan pembelajara dapat tercapai. Dengan adanya pembuatan “Stik pelangi” bagi guru TK Pertiwi Desa Bungu hasil pembelajaran materi bangun datar dan warna peserta didik dapat tercapai secara maksimal. Keywords: Stik pelangi; bangun datar; TK Pertiwi Bungu  AbstractAppropriate learning media greatly support the success of learning both in terms of quality and quantity. Therefore, the selection and use of learning media must be adjusted to the needs and suitability of the material. Introducing students form flat shapes and colors mostly using pictures or props in large quantities. This makes teaching in schools seem complicated, teachers seem less creative and innovative in the learning process in Pertiwi Kindergarten in the village of Bungu. The solution offered in this community service program is the creation of a "rainbow stick" for the Pertiwi TK Kindergarten teacher as a medium of learning to build flat and color. This is expected to form effective learning communication between teachers and students, because the learning process will be more interesting and impressive. The problems faced by TK Pertiwi Kindergarten partner are (1) the learning outcomes of flat and color material are not optimal. (2) TK Pertiwi kindergarten teacher is not yet professional in making learning media. Rainbow-Stick is a program that makes learning media that is simple, creative and innovative and does not require significant costs. This media is designed so that learning objectives can be achieved. With the creation of "Rainbow Sticks" for kindergarten teachers in Pertiwi Bungu Village, the learning outcomes of the material in the shape of the flat and the colors of students can be achieved optimally.Keywords: Rainbow Stick, two-dimentional figure, TK Pertiwi Bungu

Abstract

This paper aimed at finding out the types of teacher‟s directive expressions at two schools and describing the realizations of directive expressions in English teaching. This research was designed as a qualitative and comparative study. The subjects of the research were English teachers at one Senior High School (first School) at Semarang city and one (second school) at Jepara city. The data of this research were gained through recording, observation and interview. The result showed that there were 11 illocutionary kinds found in the teacher‟s directive expressions at the first school, and 8 illocutionary types in teacher‟s directive expressions at the second school. The most illocutionary kind found in the conversation of teaching activity in both schools was question. The directive‟s expression in both schools used direct and indirect utterances. The teachers of first school more often used language instruction in the classroom because they applied varieties of directive expression. Meanwhile, the teachers at the first school used little directive expressions in English teaching because they did not apply varieties of directive‟s expressions. The implication in teaching learning English process is that teacher-centered and student-centered type of learning depends on the frequency of production of directive expressions. More directives the teacher expresses, more center the learning by the teacher. On the other hand, less directives the teacher expresses, less center the learning by the teacher.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menjelaskan pulic finance dalam pendidikan Islam dalam sisi konsep, dasar pijakan, dan korelasi.  Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif, terkait dengan pulic finance dalam pendidikan Islam dalam sisi konsep, dasar pijakan, dan korelasi. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Prosesnya dilakukan semenjak pengumpulan data, sehingga saat dilapangan, peneliti sudah mulai melakukan proses analisis data hingga penelitian berakhir. Penelitian ini berkesimpulan bahwa:  Pengelolaan keuangan publik atau keuangan negara semestinya dilakukan secara transparan dan akuntabel, khususnya dalam penyusunan, pelaksanaan, dan pertanggungjawabannya. Pengelolaan keuangan publik berdimensi ekonomi dan religius, sehingga semestinya dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Sekarang ini, meskipun mekanisme atau pengelolaan APBN di Indonesia mengalami reformasi antara lain adanya peraturan perundangan tentang keuangan negara, perubahan pengelolaan anggaran dari sistem anggaran berimbang dan dinamis menjadi sistem anggaran berbasis kinerja, perubahan jenis anggaran dari anggaran rutin dan anggaran pembangunan menjadi anggaran rutin saja, dan perubahan lainnya menunjukkan adanya upaya sungguh-sungguh dari pemerintah dalam mengelola keuangan public. Pengelolaan anggaran dalam keuangan publik atau keuangan negara bertujuan untuk menciptakan kesejahteraan masyarakat dengan memperhatikan kepentingan umum melalui penyediaan fasilitas dan sarana-sarana penunjangnya, serta pengelolaan pendapatan negara sesuai dengan peraturan yang berlaku dan tidak melakukan penyimpangan dalam memperoleh pendapatan dan pengeluarannya kepada masyarakat.  Peran negara dalam pengelolaan keuangan publik bertujuan untuk menciptakan keadilan dan memberikan jaminan sosial kepada masyarakat. Untuk mewujudkan tujuan tersebut, diperlukan fasilitas dan sarana publik serta pengawasan yang ketat oleh pejabat negara yang kompeten dan kredibel dalam menjamin distribusi pendapatan masyarakat secara tepat dan adil.

Abstract

This descriptive research aims at describing the effectiveness of curriculumof Islamic Education Management Postgraduate Program at UNISNUJepara and contributing the critical review towards the corcordance ofcurriculum structure and subjects’ variant offered connected to stake holderand the profession of users. Qualitative method is applied in this research,whereas the technique of selecting the subject of research is purposivesampling. The data of this research are collected through interview,observation, and documentation. The result shows that the variant ofcourses that are offered by the postgraduate program are categorized to be supporting enough for the concentration Islamic education supervisionin the case of education management  study program. However, some subjects need to be reviewed in curriculum review to enhance their effectiveness for users and stake holder of institutional and Islamic educationmanagement at UNISNU Jepara. Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan menjelaskan keefektifan kurikulummanajemen pendidikan Islam perogram pascasarjana Unisnu Jepara danmemberikan kontribusi berupa tinjauan kritis terhadap kesesuaian dalamstruktur kurikulum dan berbagai pihak yang berhubungan denganpemangku kepentingan dan profesi para pemakainya. Penelitian inimenerapkan metode kualitatif, sedangkan teknik pemilihan data denganmenggunakan tehnik sampel terpilih. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melaluiwawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa ragam mata kuliah yang ditawarkan dapat dikategorikan cukupmendukung konsentrasi supervisi pendidikan Islam dalam penjurusan program studi,namun sebagian mata kuliah perlu ditinjau ulang dalamtinjauan kurikulum untuk meningkatkan keefektifannya khususnya bagi para pemangku kepentingan lembaga dan manajemen pendidikan IslamUNISNU Jepara.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to increase the proficiency of PPG English teachers in finishing the TOEFL-based English test questions.  To achieve this goal the methods in implementing this activity is through Webinar and training with a combination of theory and practice as well as discussion and performance of the results of the training at the end of the activity. The result of implementing this activity is that TOEFL-based English training is one of the efforts that can be made to improve English mastery skills for teachers, participants benefit from knowledge about the theoretical basis, principles, and strategies of the TOEFL test and its grid so that it better equips the students' teachers in dealing with TOEFL-based English questions, as well as improving the English language skills of teachers in general. Moreover, the results of this activity can be used as material for consideration in making policies related to improving the quality of teachers in their respective schools

Abstract

This research aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research-based madrasah learning management as well as supporting and inhibiting factors at Madrasah Aliyah Kudus in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Primary data was taken from 15 teachers, school principals, and 90 students. Secondary research data is in the form of documents, notes, archives, and madrasa profiles, as well as learning outcomes reports. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with data collection, reduction, display, and drawing conclusions. Learning management planning is adapted to the 2013 Curriculum following the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2016 to fulfill aspects of teacher professional competence. In its implementation, it applies principles of student-centered learning. Teachers act as mediators and motivators to make students active, creative, and innovative. The evaluation includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Assessment is carried out through daily assessments, mid-semester, and final assessments. Supporting factors include the development of sophisticated technology, subject collaboration, and student creativity and innovation. The inhibiting factors are the need for supporting media, students' abilities, self-confidence, interest in reading, and inadequate facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to describe whether the reading material in the English textbook "My Next Words" for Grade 4 Elementary School meets the criteria of the Free Learning Curriculum and the BSNP framework for textbook evaluation. This research is expected to provide insights to understand the quality of reading material. This research is designed as a content analysis in the form of qualitative descriptive research, with the results described in a narrative form. The checklist was developed based on the BSNP (2014) framework for textbook evaluation, focusing on the area of relevance of the reading material to the Merdeka Belajar curriculum and the content aspects, aspects of language usage, readability, and presentation aspects. Data was collected from the reading section of the English textbook. The English textbook "My Next Words" is published by the National Ministry of Education. The findings of this study show that the reading material in the English textbook "My Next Words" is relevant to the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum and the BSNP framework for textbook evaluation—results of the analysis of curriculum criteria relevance. According to the results of the reading material analysis, each aspect based on the content of the adopted textbook from the BSNP meets both the category, the content aspect, the usage and readability aspect of the language, and the presentation aspect. As a result, the 2017 revised edition of the K13-based English textbook can be used in the Free Learning curriculum. However, some things are still lacking in learning outcomes in the self-learning curriculum. So that teachers can adapt to the situation by making innovations in teaching-learning activities.

Abstract

Canva application functions to revive students' enthusiasm for learning English, especially in mastering vocabulary, an application medium that is attractive, flexible, and easy to operate is also needed. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of Canva application in Fun English Learning to improve the student’s English vocabulary. The participants were eleventh graders of SMK Roudhotul Mubtadi'in Balekambang Jepara from two different study groups. Each study group consists of 22 female students. Researchers then divided them into two groups, namely experimental and control. The experimental group received an English vocabulary-assisted by Canva, while the control group used PowerPoint slides as learning media. This experimental research uses a pretest-posttest test for each group. Data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis techniques and ANCOVA. The table also shows that the effect of pretest F(1,43) is 15.69, less than 0.05. The posttest effect F(1,43) was 1.422, less than 0.05, with an ETA squared of 0.03. The Fcount calculation result is 15.69 with df = (1, 41), p-value = 0.000 < 0.05. These results show differences in the average vocabulary of students who received media learning English using Canva compared to the control group.
