Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka (Freedom Curriculum) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan. Using a qualitative case study method, data was collected through observation of 10 learning sessions, interviews with one PAI teacher and 30 students, and document analysis. Results show: (1) implementation includes varied methods and interactive media, (2) improved learning quality marked by increased average scores from 70 to 85, (3) main challenges are facility limitations and teacher adaptation. Kurikulum Merdeka proves effective in enhancing PAI learning quality, given support for teacher competency development and adequate facilities. Penelitian ini menganalisis implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan. Menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi 10 sesi pembelajaran, wawancara dengan satu guru PAI dan 30 siswa, serta analisis dokumen. Hasil menunjukkan: (1) implementasi meliputi penggunaan metode bervariasi dan media interaktif, (2) peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran ditandai kenaikan rata-rata nilai dari 70 ke 85, (3) tantangan utama adalah keterbatasan sarana dan adaptasi guru. Kurikulum Merdeka terbukti efektif meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran PAI dengan syarat adanya dukungan pengembangan kompetensi guru dan sarana memadai.
