Abstract

This article aims to analyze the influence of the Social Inquiry learning model on improving elementary students' critical thinking skills in social studies subjects. The method used is literature study, with data obtained from books, scientific journals and articles published on Google Scholar. The results of the analysis show that the Social Inquiry learning model has great potential in improving students' critical thinking skills. This model encourages students to be actively involved in the learning process through inquiry, exploration, and data collection to find answers to their own questions. Social Inquiry helps students develop analytical, evaluation, problem solving, communication and learning motivation skills. Social studies learning aims to solve problems in everyday life which can foster students' critical thinking skills, so that students can apply them to everyday life. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran Inkuiri Sosial terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SD dalam mata pelajaran IPS. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka, dengan data diperoleh dari buku, jurnal ilmiah, dan artikel yang dipublikasikan di Google Scholar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Inkuiri Sosial memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Model ini mendorong siswa untuk aktif terlibat dalam proses belajar melalui penyelidikan, eksplorasi, dan pengumpulan data untuk menemukan jawaban atas pertanyaan mereka sendiri. Inkuiri Sosial membantu siswa mengembangkan kemampuan analisis, evaluasi, pemecahan masalah, komunikasi, dan motivasi belajar. Pembelajaran IPS bertujuan memecahkan suatu permasalahan pada kehidupan sehari-hari yang dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, sehingga siswa dapat mengaplikasikannya pada kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Canva media's use in developing fifth-grade elementary school students' critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are one of the important competencies in the Independent Curriculum, but many students still have not shown these abilities optimally in the learning process. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of the learning process that utilizes Canva media. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students at SDI Al Azhar 2 in Jakarta City. The results of the study showed that Canva media was able to attract students' attention, make it easier to understand the material, and encourage students to be more active in expressing opinions and compiling arguments. Canva also provides a wide exploration space for students to express ideas visually and creatively. Based on these findings, Canva media is worthy of being used as an alternative learning medium that supports the development of critical thinking skills of elementary school students.
