Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of affixation, namely prefixes, suffixes, and confixes, in the corpus of Kompas short stories entitled “Odong-odong” by Arya Seno Gumira Ajidarma. Linguistic analysis shows that the structure of affixation in this short story reflects the relationship between words in the sentence as well as the context in which they are used. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive corpus linguistic method by utilizing KORTARA (Korpus Nusantara) application. This application serves for data presentation, collection, and analysis. The data analyzed are words or sentences containing affixation in the short story “Odong-odong”. The data collection technique is done through documentation of corpus files in KORTARA application. For data analysis, computational linguistic analysis technique is used. The result shows the affixation process in the form of prefixes, suffixes, and confixes. In addition, this study also found that the affixation process functions to change the basic word group into a certain word group, making it easier for readers to analyze sentences based on context.

Abstract

In a cultural context, short stories are often used to reflect the values, norms, and customs of the society in which they are set. This article will describe the cultural orientation and nature of human relationships, both vertically, horizontally, and individually, in the short story "Ngaben Sederhana" by I Made Sugiyanto. Furthermore, the implications of the research findings for students' learning and cultural understanding are also discussed. The type of research used is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The data in this study are words or sentences contained in the short story. The data source used is the short story. The data collection technique in this study uses documentary study techniques. The results of the study indicate that there are relationships between humans that are vertical, horizontal, and individual. The results of the study can be used as teaching materials for short story text material. Keywords: culture; short stories; values Abstrak Dalam konteks budaya, cerpen sering digunakan untuk merefleksikan nilai-nilai, norma, dan kebiasaan masyarakat tempat cerita itu dibuat. Artikel ini akan mendeskripsikan orientasi budaya dan hakikat hubungan manusia dengan manusia baik secara vertikal, horizontal, dan maupun individual dalam cerpen Ngaben Sederhana karya I Made Sugiyanto. Selain itu, dibahas juga implikasi hasil penelitian terhadap pembelajaran dan pemahaman budaya siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata atau kalimat yang terdapat dalam cerpen. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah cerpen. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah teknik studi dokumenter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antar manusia yang bersifat vertikal, horizontal, dan individual.
