Abstract

This study examines the Abrahamic covenant in the Book of Genesis, with a focus on its missional dimension. The covenant בְּרִית (berith) with Abraham concerns not only the blessings for Abraham's descendants but also the calling to bring restoration to all of humanity and God's creation. Through a qualitative method and content analysis of biblical texts and related literature, this research explores the implications of the Abrahamic covenant within the context of God's global mission, which encompasses spiritual, social, economic, and ecological restoration. This study affirms that Jesus Christ, as the Messiah, fulfils the covenant, expanding the church's mission, which is not limited to spiritual aspects but also includes social and ecological transformation. The findings of this study offer a new understanding of the application of the Abrahamic covenant in the church's mission and the restoration of a more just and sustainable world.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the significance of Christ's humility and sacrifice, particularly through His emptying and death on the cross, and its implications in alleviating interpersonal and social conflicts. Adopting a qualitative approach, the study employs literature review and content analysis methods to examine biblical texts, theological works, and modern theories on conflict and reconciliation. The research focuses on how the principles of Christ's humility and sacrifice, exemplified in His self-emptying action to serve humanity, can be applied to resolve conflicts and restore relationships between individuals. The findings of this study indicate that Christ's teachings provide a relevant model for reconciliation and peacebuilding, both in personal life and on a broader social scale. The novelty of this research lies in linking the theological values of Christ with contemporary conflict resolution theories, offering new insights into the role of humility and sacrifice in addressing social tensions. This study contributes to understanding the relevance of Christ's teachings in the context of current conflicts.

The findings of the study indicate that leadership rooted in faith can create lasting influence, foster strong character, and enhance competence in service. This encourages Christian leaders to prioritise eternal values, justice, and transformative service, thereby shaping leadership with broad-reaching impact. The study provides practical guidance for the realisation of relevant and effective Christian leadership in various life contexts.

Abstract

This article aims to refresh the theological thought of Rudolf Bultmann in a contemporary context by examining his contributions to existential theology and the relevance of the Gospel in the modern era. The main focus of this study includes Bultmann's ideas on the “Hidden God”, divine revelation, and existential faith experience, as well as the concept of demythologisation as an attempt to actualise the biblical message in an increasingly secular and pluralistic world. Criticism of his hermeneutical methods is also discussed to evaluate the relevance of Bultmann's theology in confronting the challenges of spiritual life and contemporary Christian ethics. The research demonstrates that, despite facing criticism, Bultmann's thought remains relevant and offers new insights into understanding faith, revelation, and Christian dogma in the modern world. Thus, this article presents a perspective of renewal in the application of Bultmann's theological thought for the contemporary context.

Abstract

This study explores the theological and practical significance of the Lord’s Supper within its soteriological, koinonia, missional, and eschatological dimensions. Employing biblical analysis, theological literature review, and field observations, this research offers a profound understanding of the Lord’s Supper and its application in contemporary church practices. The integrative approach adopted combines both theological and practical aspects, affirming that the Lord’s Supper is not merely an institutional rite but a command of Christ, rich in meaning. The findings reveal that the Lord’s Supper serves as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice while also strengthening the eschatological hope of the Christian community. This study underscores the importance of eschatological understanding in worship and daily life, contributing to the development of church practices that are more mission-oriented and eschatologically focused.

Abstract

This study investigates the interplay between Dani cultural values and Christian ethics, focusing on how contextual evangelism can be effectively implemented within the Dani community in Papua. Utilizing a qualitative approach with an ethnographic methodology, the research combines field observations and content analysis to explore the impact of traditional Dani beliefs, particularly those encapsulated in the Nabelan-Kabelan and Naruekul mythologies, on Christian ethics and practices. Field observations involve immersive engagement with the Dani people to understand their cultural practices and religious expressions, while content analysis of relevant literature provides a theoretical foundation for interpreting these practices within the context of Christian teachings. The findings reveal that traditional Dani beliefs present both challenges and opportunities for contextual evangelism, highlighting the need for a nuanced approach that respects cultural values while introducing Christian ethics. The study concludes with recommendations for effective evangelistic strategies that integrate cultural insights with biblical teachings to foster ethical transformation and spiritual growth within the Dani community.

Abstract

Abstract:This study investigates the interwoven dimensions of prophetic spirituality, ministry, and the proclamation of tiqvah le-mashiach (תִּקְוָה לַמָּשִׁיחַ)—the hope of the Messiah—within the theological framework of the Hebrew Scriptures. It examines how prophetic experiences, such as divine visions and vocational struggles, shaped their roles as mediators of God's will and as heralds of justice, repentance (teshuvah / תְּשׁוּבָה), and covenant renewal. Through a qualitative and hermeneutical approach, the research engages in a theological analysis of selected prophetic texts, particularly from the books of Isaiah (Yeshayahu / יְשַׁעְיָהוּ) and Jeremiah (Yirmeyahu / יִרְמְיָהוּ), uncovering a rich spiritual tradition grounded in unwavering obedience, moral reform, and eschatological hope. The findings reveal that prophetic spirituality was not an isolated religious experience but a deeply embodied response to divine calling, marked by a commitment to mishpat (מִשְׁפָּט – justice), chesed (חֶסֶד – steadfast love), and tsedeq (צֶדֶק – righteousness). The Messianic prophecies articulated by the prophets are shown to be both historically situated and theologically enduring, expressing a vision of restoration, sacrificial leadership, and divine sovereignty. This study contributes to ongoing theological discourse by emphasising the enduring relevance of prophetic witness and offering a framework for integrating spirituality, ministry, and eschatology in contemporary faith contexts. Its distinctive contribution lies in its integrative theological reflection, which views prophetic ministry as a model for transformative spiritual engagement.
