Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze how the use of language in the novel Gadis Pantai reflects and influences gender representation, as well as to understand how it affects the reading of gender roles and positions in society. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Qualitative descriptive research is a research method that aims to describe or explain phenomena in detail, depth, and comprehensively. In the novel "Pantai Girl" by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, gender representation in the use of language describes the complexity of the social and cultural structure of the time. Through sociolinguistic analysis, it can be seen how language is used to build female and male characters, as well as how they interact in a society that is segmented based on social and economic status. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis bagaimana penggunaan bahasa dalam novel Gadis Pantai mencerminkan dan memengaruhi representasi gender, serta untuk memahami bagaimana hal tersebut mempengaruhi pembacaan terhadap peran dan posisi gender dalammasyarakat. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif adalah metode penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan atau menjelaskan fenomena secara detail, mendalam,dankomprehensif. Dalam novel "Gadis Pantai" karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer, representasi gender dalam penggunaan bahasa menggambarkan kompleksitas struktur sosial dan budaya pada masa itu. Melalui analisis sosiolinguistik, dapat dilihat bagaimana bahasa digunakan untuk membangun karakter-karakter perempuan dan laki-laki, serta bagaimana mereka berinteraksi dalam masyarakat yang tersegmentasi
