Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of finding out and understanding how the representation of masculinity is visualized by the main character in the live action film Tokyo Revengers. In conducting the analysis, this research use Roland Barthes semiotic theory where the meaning process is divided into Denotation, Connotation and Myth which are associated with the concept of masculinity according to Janet Saltzman Chafetz which is divided into seven aspect. The research method used is Qualitative Descriptive by analyzing each scene that contains the masculine characteristics of the main character. The result obtained from this research show that the character Takemichi has seven concept of masculinity including: Aspect of male Physical Appearance, Male Fuctional, Male Sexual, Emotional, Intellectual, Male Interpersonal, and finally the Personal Character of man.

Abstract

The concept of paradigm in natural sciences was introduced by Thomas Kuhn, who considered that the development of natural science paradigms, occurred in revolutionary way. This means that there is a relationship of mutual replacement between one paradigm and another. Meanwhile, social scientist, such as George Ritzer, consider paradigm not to be those introduced by Thomas Kuhn. Ritzer considers that paradigm in social sciences can be seen in divergent relation (difference views). As the result, difference view of exemplar (various findings recognized in particular paradigm), subject matters (the main issues being studied), theory (explanation or abstraction of phenomena) and methods (the rules for interpret phenomena) can be very diverse and cause debate.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap representasi tanggung jawab dalam film animasi berjudul Laki Pengangguran yang ditayangkan di kanal YouTube Tekotok. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif, penelitian ini menganalisis tanda-tanda visual dan naratif melalui metode semiotika Roland Barthes, yang melibatkan pembacaan denotatif, konotatif, dan mitos. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah bagaimana nilai tanggung jawab direpresentasikan melalui karakter, alur cerita, serta simbol-simbol visual dalam animasi tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa film ini memuat pesan moral yang kuat terkait pentingnya tanggung jawab pribadi, baik terhadap diri sendiri maupun lingkungan sosial. Pesan ini disampaikan secara kreatif melalui medium animasi yang mudah dipahami dan menarik bagi berbagai kalangan. Berdasarkan analisis semiotika, film ini berhasil mengomunikasikan pesan moral kepada penonton melalui karakter, alur cerita, dan penggunaan simbol-simbol tertentu. Tokoh utama digambarkan sebagai seseorang yang awalnya tidak memahami pentingnya tanggung jawab, baik terhadap dirinya sendiri maupun orang di sekitarnya. Namun, seiring berjalannya cerita, ia mengalami berbagai konflik dan tantangan yang membuka kesadarannya untuk berubah menjadi individu yang lebih bertanggung jawab.
