ABSTRAK: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Tata tertib secara substantif dapat membentuk karakter disiplin peserta didik, (2) Strategi yang dilakukan dalam pembentukan karakter disiplin peserta didik melalui tata tertib sekolah. (3) Kendala yang dihadapi dalam melakukan pembentukan karakter peserta didik melalui tata tertib di SMA Negeri 1 Luwu. Penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Informan penelitian yaitu kepala sekolah, wakasek kesiswaan, wakasek humas, wakasek kuruikulum, koordinator 7K, guru BK, wali kelas, guru mapel, petugas keamanan serta enam orang peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Tata tertib di SMA Negeri 1 Luwu secara substantif dapat membentuk karakter disiplin peserta didik, tata tertib berisi aturan-aturan yang harus dipatuhi oleh seluruh peserta didik termasuk kewajiban, larangan, dan sanksi. (2) Strategi yang dilakukan dalam pembentukan karakter disiplin peserta didik melalui tata tertib sekolah di SMA Negeri 1 Luwu yaitu pengawasan pihak sekolah, menjadi teladan, sosialisasi pengenalan tata tertib, pemberian sanksi, dan keterlibatan orang tua dalam merumuskan tata tertib. (3) Kendala yang dihadapi dalam melakukan pembentukan karakter disiplin peserta didik melalui tata tertib di SMA Negeri 1 Luwu terdiri dari kendala internal yaitu kurangnya kesadaran peserta didik dalam mematuhi tata tertib sekolah. Kendala eksternal yaitu guru kurang memantau tingkah laku peserta didik pada jam jam istirahat, penerapan sanksi yang tidak objektif, dan jarak rumah ke sekolah. KATA KUNCI: Pembentukan Karakter, Disiplin, Tata Tertib Sekolah ABSTRACT: The study aims to find out: (1) Rules of conduct can substantively shape the disciplinary character of students, (2) Strategies carried out in the formation of student discipline character through school rules. (3) Obstacles faced in building the character of students through discipline at SMA Negeri 1 Luwu. Research uses qualitative types of research. The research informants were the principal, student wakasek, public relations wakasek, curriculum wakasek, 7K coordinator, BK teacher, homeroom teacher, maple teacher, security officer and six students. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. Data validity techniques use source triangulation. The results showed that: (1) The rules of conduct at SMA Negeri 1 Luwu can substantively shape the disciplinary character of students, the rules contain rules that must be obeyed by all students including obligations, prohibitions, and sanctions. (2) Strategies carried out in building the disciplinary character of students through school rules at SMA Negeri 1 Luwu, namely supervision of the school, being an example, socialization of the introduction of discipline, sanctioning, and parental involvement in formulating rules. (3) The obstacles faced in building the disciplinary character of students through the rules of conduct at SMA Negeri 1 Luwu consist of internal obstacles, namely the lack of awareness of students in complying with school rules. External constraints are that teachers do not monitor the behavior of students during recess, the application of sanctions that are not objective, and the distance from home to school.
