Abstract

Short story is a literary work in the form of fictional prose that tells about experienced by the main character. This study aims to describe the form and meaning of metaphors contained in the short story Sepasang Wajah dalam Bilik Suara by Indra Tranggono. This research method is descriptive qualitative. This research uses the reading-note technique. The data source in this research is the short story A Pair of Faces in the Sound Room. The results of this study found forms of metaphor which include 7 anthropomorphic, 4 animalistic, 3 abstraction, and 7 synesthetic, so that it has aesthetic value and the way of description is more creative and expressive. In addition, there are also stylistic elements such as lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, cohesion, structural investigation, simile and imagery in short stories.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of pragmatics in understanding the meaning of legal statements in traffic order appeals. The pragmatic approach is used to analyze how context and implicature influence the interpretation of messages in the appeal. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data obtained from traffic appeals in various public media. The results of the study indicate that the use of appropriate pragmatic strategies can improve public understanding of the intent and purpose of legal appeals, as well as encourage their compliance in traffic. The implication of this study is the importance of designing legal messages that are not only linguistically clear, but also consider pragmatic aspects to be more effective. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna pernyataan hukum pada imbauan tertib lalu lintas di media sosial dari sudut pragmatik. Pendekatan pragmatik digunakan untuk menganalisis bagaimana konteks dan implikatur mempengaruhi interpretasi pesan dalam imbauan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan data yang diperoleh dari imbauan lalu lintas di berbagai media publik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan strategi pragmatik yang tepat dapat meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap maksud dan tujuan dari imbauan hukum, serta mendorong kepatuhan mereka dalam berlalu lintas. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah pentingnya merancang pesan hukum yang tidak hanya jelas secara linguistik, tetapi juga mempertimbangkan aspek pragmatik agar lebih efektif.
