Abstract

The issue of plastic waste, particularly PVC, has become a serious environmental concern in Indonesia due to population growth, which has led to an increase in waste volume. PVC waste is challenging to recycle and often causes environmental problems, such as flooding and fires due to electrical short circuits. This study aims to reduce PVC waste by processing it into a safer and more environmentally friendly cable insulator. The research methods include the collection, sorting, mixing, and testing of PVC waste with the addition of Nano Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (NPCC) and a plasticizer. The results indicate that the PVC waste-based cable insulator possesses adequate tensile strength and elasticity, as well as electrical resistance that meets the standards of SNI 04-6629:2011 and SPLN 42-2:1992. The conclusion of this study is that the utilization of PVC waste as a cable insulator can reduce environmental problems and improve the safety of electrical installations.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) daur ulang sebagai material isolator kabel memerlukan metode evaluasi kelayakan yang objektif dan terstruktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan sistem pakar berbasis aturan (rule-based expert system) menggunakan Python untuk menentukan kelayakan material isolator kabel PVC daur ulang berdasarkan komposisi Nano Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (NPCC) dan plasticizer. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui pembuatan tiga sampel komposit PVC daur ulang dengan variasi gramasi NPCC dan volume plasticizer, kemudian dilakukan pengujian laboratorium meliputi resistansi isolasi, kuat tarik, dan elongasi. Data hasil pengujian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa nilai rata-rata (mean) dan standar deviasi sebagai dasar penyusunan aturan keputusan sistem pakar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Sampel 1 memiliki nilai resistansi isolasi sebesar 0,00164 ± 0,0017 MΩ dan dikategorikan sebagai Tidak Layak. Sampel 2 memiliki nilai resistansi sebesar 0,13436 ± 0,0120 MΩ dan dikategorikan sebagai Perlu Optimasi, sedangkan Sampel 3 sebesar 0,08464 ± 0,0240 MΩ dengan karakteristik mekanik paling mendekati produk pasaran sehingga dikategorikan sebagai Layak/Mendekati. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam menyediakan alat bantu pengambilan keputusan yang objektif dan konsisten untuk evaluasi material isolator kabel berbasis PVC daur ulang.
