Abstract

Methylene blue adsorption research has been carried out using activated charcoal from Curculigo latifolia. This research aims to determine the characteristics of the Curculigo latifolia activated charcoal made and the optimum conditions for the adsorption of methylene blue by Curculigo latifolia activated charcoal. Physically activated charcoal is made from Curculigo latifolia which is carbonized at 400°C for 30 minutes, then the physically activated charcoal is soaked in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution for 24 hours to produce chemically activated charcoal. The results showed that the optimum pH for methylene blue adsorption obtained from the Curculigo latifolia activated charcoal adsorbent was physically activated at pH 7 and chemically activated at pH 9. The optimum contact time obtained from the physically and chemically activated Curculigo latifolia activated charcoal adsorbent occurred at a contact time of 15 minutes and 30 minutes. Adsorption of methylene blue by chemically activated Curculigo latifolia activated charcoal follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm while physically activated charcoal follows the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The optimum adsorbent mass of physically and chemically activated charcoal is 0.2 g and 0.25 g.

Abstract

Permasalahan lingkungan menjadi salah satu permasalahan krusial di seluruh dunia. Bumi yang semakin tua telah banyak mengalami kerusakan. Diperlukan adanya kesadaran sejak dini bagi generasi muda yang akan merasakan kondisi lingkungan di masa mendatang. Studi literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan pembelajaran sains berbasis lingkungan yang dapat meningkatkan sikap peduli lingkungan siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah narrative literature review, dengan menganalisis beberapa sumber pustaka mengenai pembelajaran sains berbasis lingkungan. Penerapan pembelajaran sains berbasis lingkungan telah dilakukan pada tingkat sekolah dasar hingga sekolah menengah atas dengan berbagai mata pelajaran di bidang sains. Hasil studi literatur ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran sains berbasis lingkungan mampu meningkatkan sikap peduli lingkungan serta beberapa aspek pengetahuan dan keterampilan sains pada siswa.Environmental problems are one of the crucial problems throughout the world. The aging Earth has experienced a lot of damage. There is a need for early awareness for the younger generation who will experience environmental conditions in the future. This literature study aims to determine the application of environmentally based science learning which can increase students' environmental care attitudes. The method used in this research is a narrative literature review, by analyzing several library sources regarding environmental-based science learning. The application of environmentally based science learning has been carried out at elementary to high school levels with various subjects in the field of science. The results of this literature study show that environmentally based science learning is able to increase environmental care attitudes as well as several aspects of science knowledge and skills in students.
