Abstract

ABSTRACT Sinar Laut Hamlet is one of the areas in Sidomekar Village, Katibung Subdistrict, South Lampung that has unlicensed mining (PETI). The mineral being mined is gold. During the arrest of 4 (four) unlicensed miners in the hamlet by Law Enforcement Officials (APH), 18 iron tubes were found, which were suspected to be hazardous materials such as mercury used to process gold at that location. The use of mercury in processing mining products has now been banned in Indonesia because of the dangers it can cause, both for miners, the environment, and the health of the surrounding community. This “Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat” aims to increase community knowledge and understanding of the regulations that apply when conducting mining activities and the adverse effects of using hazardous materials in processing mining products. Increasing knowledge and understanding is done through socialization and education to the community. This activity invited relevant stakeholders, such as Sidomekar Village officials, the Heads of Hamlets, and the community in the village. With this “Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat”, the people of Sinar Laut Hamlet have a better understanding of the procedures for applying for permits and applicable regulations related to mining activities. Apart from that, the community can also find out how to process gold properly and the dangers of using mercury in gold processing. This can be seen from the increase in residents' understanding and knowledge of unlicensed mining (PETI) and the dangers of using mercury, which is> 20% in the indicator of knowing and very knowing, and the indicator of very not knowing dropped to a percentage of 0%. Keywords: Mining, mercury, gold mines, best practice mining.

Abstract

Marine clay land is formed due to hydrological factors, including acidity, low macronutrient levels, relatively high micronutrient levels, and a clay-dominant texture. Land improvement for marine clay land is necessary to enhance plant growth and productivity. Eucalyptus pellita is a plant that is adaptive to various types of land and is used as a raw material for pulp and paper, which is widely cultivated in Industrial Plantation Forest (HTI) in Indonesia. Research is needed to enhance the quality of marine clay soils and promote plant growth. Land quality can be improved by adding soil ameliorants from surrounding waste, such as waste from HTI, specifically pulp and paper sludge (KCa). This study used a combination of organic ameliorants (cocopeat and cattle manure) and inorganic (KCa, KCl, and dolomite), using a factorial complete random design consisting of two factors. The first factor was inorganic ameliorants, which consisted of four levels: A0 (no inorganic ameliorant), A1 (KCa 25 g), A2 (KCl 25 g), and A3 (dolomite 25 g). The second factor is organic ameliorants, which consists of 7 levels: B0 (no organic ameliorant); B1 (cocopeat 200 g); B2 (cocopeat 100 g); B3 (cocopeat 50 g); B4 (cattle manure 200 g); B5 (cattle manure 100 g); and B6 (cattle manure 50 g). The interaction of these two treatment factors resulted in 28 treatment combinations. A total of 1 kg of sterilized marine clay soil was placed in a polybag, then ameliorants were added according to the experimental design. The purpose of this study is to utilize HTI industrial waste as a soil ameliorant and to analyze the optimal dose of the ameliorant used during the study. The results of this study indicate that improving the quality of marine clay soil using a combination of organic and inorganic ameliorants enhances the growth in height and diameter of E. pellita compared to treatments using single ameliorants. The results showed that the treatment with B2A1 (Cocopeat 100 g and KCa 25 g) was the most effective, yielding the highest growth response, diameter, and number of leaves compared to other treatments. Abstract

The Sumpang Bita Archaeological Park in Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi, is a prehistoric rock art site with important archaeological value, but interpretation facilities are still limited, preventing visitors from gaining adequate contextual understanding. This study aims to develop a QR code-based digital audio tour model as an educational, inclusive, and accessible interpretation medium for the Sumpang Bita Archaeological Park. The methods used included field observations with interviews with 20 visitors, the design of bilingual narrative content (Indonesian-English), and the implementation of the system through the installation of QR Codes at strategic points on the site. Survey results showed that 70% of respondents were unaware of the site's primary historical value, 65% considered supporting facilities very inade quate, and 100% stated that they needed additional guidance. The implementation of the audio tour system has been proven to improve access to information, expand audience reach, including groups with disabilities and speech impairments, and support the trend of digitalization of cultural tourism. While initial trials are limited by their small scale and internet network constraints, this model offers a cost-effective solution that can be replicated at other open archaeological sites. Thus, the development of QR code-based audio tours through the National Community Service Program provides a significant contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage while strengthening the educational experience and community involvement in the conservation of prehistoric sites.
