Abstract

Social and economic changes in modern society have increased the number of parents working outside the home. This phenomenon has a significant impact on family dynamics and parenting patterns. One important aspect that needs to be investigated is how working parents affect the development of children's independence. Independence is an important aspect of child development, including the ability to make decisions, solve problems, and take responsibility for their actions. This study aims to explore the correlation between the parenting pattern of working moms and children's independence aged 5-6 years. This research is an observational study (non-experimental) with a cross-sectional research design. This study aims to examine the correlation between parenting patterns of working mothers (independent variable) and the independence of children aged 5-6 years (dependent variable). The research was conducted at Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya Kindergarten. The instruments used in this study were a modified Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire-Short Version (PSDQ) and a questionnaire for children's independence. The statistical test used in this study is Spearman analysis. After processing the data using the spearman's rho test the results obtained p = 0.036 <0.05. These results, show that there is a correlation between parenting patterns of working mothers and the independence of children aged 5-6 years at Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya Kindergarten. Working mothers should provide attention, affection, and warmth so that children's independence both in the home and school environment will be higher.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Siswa-siswa TK cenderung rentan terhadap penyakit menular seperti flu karena sistem kekebalan tubuh mereka masih berkembang. Angka siswa siswi yang batuk di TK Hang Tuah 1 Kelas Surabaya sebanyak 12 anak dari jumlah keseluruhan 28 anak, yang artinya lebih dari setengah anak mengalami batuk. Cuci tangan merupakan salah satu cara pencegahan penyebaran batuk. Di TK Hang Tuah 1 Kelas Surabaya telah menerapkan cuci tangan sebelum dan sesudah makan, akan tetapi Sebagian besar anak belum memahami cara mencuci tangan dengan benar. Dalam arti anak hanya membasahi tangan dan tanpa sabun. Oleh karena itu untuk menghindari batuk hal yang harus dilakukan adalah menerapkan etika batuk yang benar untuk mengurangi penyebaran batuk. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di TK Hang Tuah 1 di laksanakan pada hari : Rabu, 4 Oktober Juni 2023, pukul 09.00-11.00, dan diikuti oleh 23 siswa/siswi TK Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dibagi menjadi 2 sesi. Diawali dengan presentasi materi. Materi pendidikan kesehatan meliputi : pengertian etika batuk, tujuan etika batuk, apa saja penyebab batuk, cara batuk yang salah, etika batuk yang benar. Dilanjutkan dengan memutarkan video cara mencuci tangan dengan benar. Setelah pelatihan maka akan dilaksanakan pendampingan dan evaluasi. Siswa dan siswi yang mengikuti nampak tidak bosan dan mengikuti dengan baik. Setelah dilakukan Pendidikan Kesehatan menunjukan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan. Setelah diberikan pendidikan kesehatan sebanyak 87% memiliki tingkat pengetahuan baik dan sebanyak 13% memiliki tingkat pengetahuan cukup. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian edukasi dengan memanfaatkan media yang menarik seperti video dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman khususnya mengenai cara batuk dan cuci tangan yang benar untuk mencegah penularan penyakit influenza. Kata Kunci: Edukasi, Pencegahan Penyakit  ABSTRACT Kindergarten students tend to be susceptible to infectious diseases such as the flu because their immune systems are still developing. The number of students who cough at Hang Tuah 1 Class Surabaya Kindergarten is 12 out of a total of 28 children, which means that more than half of the children experience coughing. Hand washing is one way to prevent the spread of cough. Hang Tuah 1 Class Surabaya Kindergarten has implemented hand washing before and after meals, but most children do not understand how to wash their hands properly. In the sense that children only wet their hands and without soap. Therefore, to avoid coughing, the thing to do is to apply proper coughing etiquette to reduce the spread of coughing. Community service activities at Hang Tuah 1 Kindergarten were carried out on the day: Wednesday, 4 October June 2023, at 09.00-11.00, and attended by 23 students of Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya Kindergarten. First session: Material exposure, for approximately 45 minutes, health education materials include understanding cough ethics, the purpose of cough ethics, what causes coughing, the wrong way to cough, and the correct cough ethics. Followed by playing a video on how to wash hands properly. After the training, mentoring and evaluation will be carried out. Students who participated were very enthusiastic in participating in health education activities and discussions. The level of health knowledge before being given education, indicated that of the 23 participants obtained before education, there were 15 (65%) who had insufficient knowledge and 8 participants (35%) who had adequate knowledge. After health education, 87% had a high knowledge level and 13% had a good knowledge level. Health education using the demonstration method has a positive effect on improving skills. Health education is expected to be one of the health interventions that can improve the knowledge of students, especially on how to cough and wash hands properly to prevent transmission of influenza. Keywords: Education, Disease Prevention
