This counselling aims to increase participants' knowledge and awareness regarding household waste sorting practices. Negligent behaviour towards waste sorting impacts the mixing of waste and can lead to the accumulation of waste that is not managed properly. This can cause waste problems in the area, so active community participation to help sort waste from the household level is very much needed. The community service carried out this time is counselling that takes place bravely. The participants involved are residents of the Sukahati area, Bogor Regency. The counselling is also supported by tracing the participants' understanding using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Abstract

In the last 50 years, the number of Hajj pilgrims has surged from 200,000 to 3 million. The organization of Hajj and Umrah not only impacts the economy but also serves as a diplomatic tool for both the host country, Saudi Arabia, and the countries of origin of the pilgrims, such as Indonesia. While the economic impact on Saudi Arabia as the destination country has been extensively studied, the effects on the pilgrims’ countries of origin, particularly Indonesia, are less well-documented. Therefore, this paper seeks to explore how Hajj and Umrah, as forms of religious tourism, can generate economic benefits for Indonesia within the Saudi Arabian context. Utilizing a qualitative method, including literature review and observation, this paper explores and elaborates on how Hajj and Umrah can present economic opportunities for Indonesia. The findings suggest that these religious events could benefit Indonesia through various channels: services related to preparation and departure, transportation, export opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and as a means of economic diplomacy with Saudi Arabia and other pilgrim-originating countries. There is significant potential to develop these economic opportunities further to enhance Indonesia’s economic diplomacy and directly benefit its people.

Abstract

The Bandung Conference 1955 is an essential foundation of Indonesia and Eastern African nations under the scope of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Nairobi, Kenya. Yet, contemporary trends in trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement indicate that revitalizing this spirit requires new approaches amid a global economy driven by pragmatic interests. Therefore, this paper studies how the Bandung Conference spirit of solidarity is exercised in the contemporary Indonesia and Eastern Africa nations relations especially in terms of economy and politics. The paper uses the perspective international cooperation theory in scope of the global political economy which emphasizes that there are essential reciprocal relations between aspects of politics and economics between two actors in global politics with the insight from postcolonialism. Furthermore, this paper utilizes a qualitative research approach based on qualitative data for both primary and secondary data with direct observation as paramount data collecting method. This paper contributes to the academic discourse by bridging historical ideals with contemporary realities, offering a refined framework that extends traditional notions of solidarity to address modern economic imperatives. The findings suggest that although the Bandung legacy remains a pivotal theoretical foundation, its principles are inadequately reflected in both state and non-state interactions, as evidenced by limited trade volumes, modest diplomatic initiatives, and weak reciprocity in business relations. The study concludes that actualizing the Bandung spirit in contemporary Indonesia–Eastern Africa relations should prioritize enhancing collaboration among business sectors and other non-state actors.

Abstract

The post-October 2023 Red Sea Crisis, driven by persistent attacks on commercial shipping by Yemen's Houthi movement, has fundamentally transformed the security architecture of the adjacent Gulf of Aden. Applying the Copenhagen School's Regional Security Complex Theory (RSCT), this article argues that the crisis represents a successful securitization act by a non-state actor that has displaced the long-standing multilateral counter-piracy regime and generated a complex security dilemma in the region. This securitization has compelled a strategic redeployment of international naval assets from broad anti-piracy patrols to focused anti-missile defense in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait resulting security vacuum in the wider Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin has, in turn, enabled a documented resurgence of Somali piracy and fostered the emergence of new hybrid threats, including collaboration between Houthis and other regional armed groups amid the divided security focuses from the governments in the region. In its investigation, this research uses qualitative approach by extracting the data from diverse sources from news coverages, academic articles, official releases from involved governments and international organizations, as well as reports from think tank organizations. This analysis demonstrates the profound capacity of localized, asymmetric conflicts to reconfigure regional security dynamics, challenge established global governance models, and degrade security in contiguous maritime spaces.

Abstract

Sea piracy in the Gulf of Aden (GoA) and Gulf of Guinea (GoG) is closely linked to radical groups operating in both regions. While the connection between Al-Shaabab and Somali Pirates is clear, the indirect effects of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) to the GoG related countries such as Nigeria and Cameroon is not well explored. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a comparative analysis to reveal how radicalism affects maritime security in the GoA and GoG through distinctly different mechanisms. In Somalia, Al-Shabaab’s direct involvement with Somali pirates creates a more manageable, albeit concentrated threat. Conversely, ISWAP and Boko Haram in Nigeria and Cameroon generate complex, multi-layered security challenges by disrupting both governmental security priorities and community-level stability, creating an indirect yet profoundly powerful impact on escalating incidents in the Gulf of Guinea. As a result, radicalism's negative impact in the GoA is more direct and manageable, in contrast to the GoG, which is more complex and requires a more comprehensive approach.  Keywords— Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Guinea, ISWAP, Maritime piracy, radicalism
