Abstract

Objective: This study aims to explore the challenges faced by Islamic education in Guinea, focusing on the influence of cultural, social, and economic factors on religious education. Theoretical Framework: An Islamic values- and principles-based approach is used to analyze how cultural, social, and economic factors affect religious awareness and the effectiveness of Islamic education in Guinea. Literature Review: An analysis of the literature related to globalization and its impact on religious education, a study on the lack of an integrated religious curriculum in the education system, and previous research on Islamic education in countries with similar situations. Methods: Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study reviewed relevant literature and conducted interviews with teachers, parents, and students from various Islamic schools. Results: The results of the study show that the main challenges include the impact of globalization which weakens the commitment of youth to religious values, the lack of an integrated religious curriculum, the lack of religious awareness among the youth, and the limitation of effective educational programs in fostering a correct understanding of Islam. Implications: This study recommends the development of an integrated religious curriculum, adequate teacher training, and increased role of families and communities in supporting Islamic education. Novelty: This study makes a unique contribution by identifying the relationship between social, cultural, and economic factors to the challenges of Islamic education in Guinea, while also offering practical recommendations to improve the effectiveness of religious education in the local context.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic philosophy with the concept of health and its influence on the development of modern pharmacy, especially in the application of Islamic values to halal, ethical, and sustainability standards. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework of this research is based on the maqasid sharia, which emphasizes the preservation of the soul, health, and well-being, as well as the philosophical thought of Islamic science represented by the contributions of classical scientists such as Al-Razi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Zahrawi in the development of pharmaceuticals. Literature review: A literature review involved 15 journals accessed through trusted databases (PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar), which discussed the contributions of Muslim scientists to herbal medicine, clinical observation, pharmaceutical innovation, and the application of Islamic values in pharmaceutical research and production. Methods: This study uses a literature review method with a qualitative approach, analyzing relevant academic articles and journals to identify the integration of Islamic values in modern pharmacy. Results: The results of the study show that classical Muslim scientists made significant contributions to modern pharmacy, including herbal medicine techniques and pharmaceutical innovations. In addition, Islamic values encourage the application of halal standards in the ingredients, production, and distribution of medicines. The challenges that arise include regulatory limitations and gaps in understanding the application of Islamic values in the pharmaceutical industry. Implications: These findings emphasize the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration between academia, industry, and regulators to develop modern pharmaceuticals based on Islamic values. This approach is considered more ethical, sustainable, and by the needs of the Muslim community. Novelty: This research offers a new perspective by integrating Islamic philosophy of science and health concepts into the development of modern pharmaceuticals, which have rarely been comprehensively discussed in previous research.

Abstract

Islamic education is undergoing significant transformation due to the increasing adoption of contemporary educational trends, including digital learning, competency-based education, and interdisciplinary curriculum reform. However, balancing these modern educational advancements with the preservation of Islamic pedagogical values remains a challenge. This study employs a semi-systematic literature review to analyze the impact of contemporary trends on Islamic education, highlighting key challenges and strategic opportunities. The research synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed journal articles and academic databases, focusing on three core areas: (1) technology integration in Islamic education, (2) curriculum reform and pedagogical innovations, and (3) institutional policies and educator development. The findings reveal that while digital learning enhances accessibility and engagement, infrastructure limitations, digital literacy gaps, and concerns over content authenticity persist. Additionally, resistance to interdisciplinary curriculum reform poses challenges to achieving a balanced educational approach. Institutional policies and educator training programs play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by promoting competency-based learning, professional development for teachers, and digital infrastructure expansion. The novelty of this study lies in its comparative analysis of policy interventions and technological advancements in Islamic education across different regional contexts. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education modernization by offering a framework for sustainable reforms that respect Islamic values. Future research should explore longitudinal assessments of digital learning outcomes, empirical studies on policy implementation, and the role of artificial intelligence in Islamic pedagogy.
