Abstract

Technological advancements require the education sector to adapt continuously, including in the development of learning media. Smartphone-based Android applications owned by students can be utilized as a medium for developing learning resources. The limited use of Android applications as learning media forms the background of this study. In addition, limited instructional time and students’ low interest in reading books make the development of Android-based learning media highly relevant. Therefore, the researcher conducted a research and development study to develop an Android-based learning application for English vocabulary for Grade V students at SD IT Al-Furqon. This study aims to examine: (1) the development of an Android-based learning application for English vocabulary for Grade V students at SD IT Al-Furqon Karangtengah Garu, Baron, Nganjuk in the 2023/2024 academic year; (2) the validation of the Android-based learning application for English vocabulary for Grade V students; and (3) the effectiveness of the Android-based learning application in improving students’ English vocabulary learning outcomes. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The development model used in this study refers to the 4-D model proposed by Thiagarajan, which consists of four stages: (1) Define, (2) Design, (3) Develop, and (4) Disseminate. Data collection instruments included validation questionnaires administered to media experts and subject-matter experts, as well as pre-test and post-test instruments given to students to measure the effectiveness of the developed product. Quantitative data analysis was used to assess the validity and effectiveness of the product. The result of this research and development is an Android application named ELEN (Enjoy Learning English), which features learning materials, instructional videos, and quizzes. Product validation by media and material experts obtained an overall average percentage score of 98%, indicating that the product is valid. Furthermore, the calculation of the N-gain score from the pre-test and post-test results yielded a value of 0.81 or 81.5%, indicating that the developed product falls into the “high” score category and demonstrates an “effective” level of effectiveness.

Abstract

Pengembangan media Webtoon pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan Islam materi sebab-sebab dan peristiwa Fathu Makkah kelas V mi islamiyah Lengkong Nganjuk atas dasar permasalahan yang ada di sekolah yaitu kurangnya motivasi belajar dan minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran, dalam proses belajar mengajar lebih banyak menggunakan buku paket, LKS siswa dan papan tulis sebagai media pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu (1) mendeskripsikan pengembangan media Webtoon pembelajaran sejarah kebudayaan Islam siswa kelas 5 MI Islamiyah Lengkong Nganjuk. (2) mendeskripsikan uji validitas pengembangan media Webtoon pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan Islam siswa kelas 5 MI Islamiyah Lengkong Nganjuk. (3) mendeskripsikan hasil uji coba terhadap media Webtoon pelajaran sejarah kebudayaan Islam siswa kelas 5 MI islamiyah Lengkong Nganjuk. Metode penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan model 4D (Difine, Desain, Development & Dissminate) dengan desain penelitian R&D (Research and Development). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan kuesioner, jenis data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 28 siswa. Hasil penelitian secara umum menunjukkan skor dari uji ahli media diperoleh persentase 86% dikategorikan sangat valid, uji validasi ahli materi diperoleh persentase 94% dikategorikan sangat valid, uji validasi bahasa diperoleh persentase 98% dikategorikan sangat valid. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian guru mendapatkan persentase sebesar 82%. Pada tahap pertama uji coba mendapatkan hasil presentase sebesar 82% pada tahap uji coba kedua mendapatkan presentase sebesar 85% dari keseluruhan tahapan dapat di kualifikasikan sangat baik. Dengan demikian media Webtoon pembelajaran sejarah kebudayaan Islam sangat layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study delves into the pivotal role of the learning process for students in determining educational success. Within the school environment, students encounter specific learning challenges, including difficulties in grasping instructional content provided by teachers. These challenges manifest in diverse behavioral ways, directly or indirectly affecting the overall learning environment. Consequently, effective strategies employed by teachers to address these challenges are paramount. Focusing on fourth-grade students at MI Islamiyah Jatipunggur Lengkong Nganjuk, this study investigates the factors contributing to student learning challenges in thematic lesson theme 8, explores teacher strategies to mitigate these difficulties, and identifies implementation obstacles. Employing qualitative methodology, data collection involves observation, interviews, and documentation. The data undergoes descriptive analysis, including reduction, presentation, and verification through triangulation. The findings unveil two primary factors contributing to learning challenges: internal and external. Teachers adeptly employ strategies encompassing expository, cooperative, and contextual approaches, along with providing additional instruction time for struggling students. Nonetheless, resource constraints, time allocation issues, and effective student grouping pose implementation challenges for these strategies.
