Abstract

Discussion related to the implementation of a company's Tanggung Jawab Sosial dan Lingkungan (TJSL) policy is often considered as a charity activity and does not have a significant sustainable impact. The Empowerment-based TJSL program is one option in implementing the TJSL program to have a more positive impact. This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. Primary data was obtained through field observations and interviews, while secondary data was obtained from relevant documents. The results of the study indicate that there is an impact of the implementation on the social, natural, economic and well-being dimensions. In the social dimension, a decrease in poverty rates of 0.26% has been achieved and four new groups have been formed that are involved in program activities. In the natural dimension, mangrove conservation efforts through planting 25,000 tree seedlings on 5.5 hectares of land have resulted in a CO₂ storage impact of 13,958.96 tons per year. The economic aspect contributes to increasing group income by Rp13,650,000 per month. From the welfare dimension, two practical guidebooks have been prepared as a reference for the community to understand the mangrove ecosystem and fisheries cultivation and make the program location a centre of excellence for other institutions to learn.

Abstract

Discussions related to the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are often not accompanied by the impact produced, this often makes the implementation of CSR only limited to charity activities without having an impact on the community in a sustainable manner. The empowerment-based CSR approach model is one of the options in the implementation of programs that are considered to be able to increase the role of the community and make it a subject and not just an object. This research is a qualitative research by taking primary data through observation and interview activities, while secondary data is sourced from supporting documents found in the field. Using an environmental ecology approach, this study looks not only at natural phenomena, but also investigates how human activities can affect the balance of ecosystems and the quality of the environment. The results of this study show that the CSR program has had an impact on 4 main dimensions, namely: the natural dimension, the economic dimension, the social dimension and the wellbeing dimension.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have strategic ecological and economic functions, particularly for coastal communities that depend on fisheries-based livelihoods. However, the economic value of mangroves is often perceived only from direct benefits, whereas ecosystem services and non-use values remain underappreciated. This study aims to conduct an economic valuation of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program based on empowering Scylla serrata farmers through a silvofishery approach, using the Kampoeng Kepiting Program in Kutawaru Village, Cilacap Regency, as a case study. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using survey methods. Economic valuation was conducted using the Total Economic Value (TEV) framework, which includes direct use value, indirect use value, option value, and existence value. Data were collected through interviews with farmers and local communities, supported by secondary data and CSR program documents. The results indicate that the total economic value of the Kampoeng Kepiting CSR Program reached IDR 497,330,112 per year, consisting of direct use value of IDR 211,580,112 per year, indirect use value of IDR 280,000,000 per year, option value of IDR 4,650,000 per year, and existence value of IDR 1,100,000 per year. Indirect use value contributed the largest share, highlighting the critical role of mangrove ecosystem services in supporting the sustainability of the silvofishery system. These findings demonstrate that the Kampoeng Kepiting CSR Program not only enhances community income but also internalizes the economic value of mangrove ecosystems into the local economy. Therefore, mangrove management through silvofishery-based community empowerment is a viable CSR model that is ecologically sustainable and economically sound.
