Abstract

The free health check outreach program which was held on August 19 2024 in the environment around campus aims to increase awareness and knowledge of the health of the surrounding community. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), this program involves students and residents in the environment around Sunan Giri University Surabaya. The results of the outreach show that it has succeeded in increasing health awareness and knowledge among the community. The success of this program is supported by the use of clear and interactive communication techniques, and also indicates the need for adjustments in information delivery methods for various audience groups. These findings suggest the need for the development of more inclusive health intervention models and studies of the long-term impacts of such programs to strengthen positive outcomes on public health.

Abstract

Pendampingan dalam rangka pengabdian kepada masyarakat di lokasi Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) memanfaatkan momen peringatan 17 Agustus sebagai ekspresi kepedulian terhadap lingkungan sekitar. Sasaran utamanya adalah memperkuat hubungan dengan masyarakat setempat di lokasi KKN. Para mahasiswa turut serta dalam meriahkan acara peringatan 17 Agustus 1945 di Desa Kedung Jumputrejo, Kecamatan Sukodono, Sidoarjo, dengan melibatkan berbagai kalangan mulai dari anak-anak hingga orang dewasa untuk berpartisipasi aktif. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga berupaya mendekatkan diri dengan masyarakat setempat untuk berdiskusi tentang rangkaian kegiatan menyambut peringatan 17 Agustus 1945 di Desa Kedung Jumputrejo, Kecamatan Sukodono, Sidoarjo, serta mengumpulkan informasi mengenai kearifan lokal yang biasa dipraktikkan oleh mereka. Kegiatan peringatan 17 Agustus ini menjadi bagian tak terpisahkan dari program KKN Universitas Sunan Giri Surabaya, meskipun tidak tercantum secara resmi dalam program utama atau harian. Mengingat sifat KKN sebagai bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat, partisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan tersebut dianggap penting.
