Abstract

Adolescence is a critical phase in individual development, marked by the search for identity and the need for emotional support from the family. However, adolescents from broken homes often face complex psychological pressures due to the absence of stable parental figures and an inharmonious family environment. One of the common psychological impacts is the tendency to experience overthinking, which is a repetitive thinking process without constructive solutions. This article aims to examine the relationship between overthinking and depression in adolescents from broken homes through a literature review approach. The results of the analysis show that overthinking, especially in the form of brooding, is highly correlated with symptoms of depression, such as social withdrawal, decreased achievement, and self-harm behavior. Non-adaptive coping mechanisms, cognitive distortions, and low self-acceptance also worsen the mental condition of adolescents in this group. Mindfulness therapy and cognitive-behavioral approaches have proven effective as interventions, but require systemic support from the school, community, and family environments. This study emphasizes the importance of mental health literacy and preventive interventions to build psychological resilience in adolescents in dealing with dysfunctional family dynamics.

Abstract

Elderly is a phase of life that is marked by various changes in physical, psychological, and social aspects that can trigger stress, anxiety, and even depression. The inability to deal with these changes often causes a decrease in psychological well-being in the elderly, especially for the elderly who live in nursing homes. A non-pharmacological method that is believed to be able to be used to reduce stress levels in the elderly is art therapy. This therapy uses art-based creative activities as a means to channel emotions and support mental health. This study aims to examine the extent to which art therapy is effective in reducing stress levels in the elderly using a literature review approach. A total of 21 relevant scientific articles were reviewed to gain an in-depth understanding of the effect of art therapy on the psychological well-being of the elderly. The results of the study showed that art therapy has a positive impact on reducing stress levels, encouraging self-expression, strengthening coping mechanisms, and providing a sense of calm and meaning for the elderly. Therefore, art therapy can be an effective and applicable intervention to improve the quality of life of the elderly, especially in a nursing home environment.

Abstract

The phenomenon of klitih in Yogyakarta has become a worrying social issue, especially because of the involvement of adolescents in violent acts that are often carried out without clear motives. This article aims to examine the dynamics of aggressive behavior of klitih perpetrators and examine the strategic role of guidance and counseling in preventive efforts against this deviant behavior. The method used is a literature review of scientific articles, journals, and relevant books obtained through academic platforms. The results of the study indicate that aggressive behavior in adolescents, including klitih, can be minimized through a guidance and counseling approach that focuses on developing emotional regulation, self-control, and social skills. School counselors have an important role in designing preventive programs based on student needs, such as mindfulness training and conflict resolution simulations. Thus, guidance and counseling services become a key instrument in creating a safe, supportive educational environment that is able to shape adolescent character positively in order to prevent the emergence of aggressive behavior in the future.
