Abstract

Student involvement in the learning process is crucial as it affects their learning success. The implementation of online learning at UNISA Yogyakarta faced obstacles due to low student participation. Student interest in accessing the LMS is influenced by the quality of the LMS. The results of LMS monitoring and evaluation over the past year showed an average score of 2.28 (categorized as sufficient). Courses with good LMS evaluation scores accounted for 23.6%. The development of the LMS is an effort to increase student involvement in cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and performance aspects. This research is a collaborative study on LMS development in partnership with Universiti Malaysia Pahang. The development method uses the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The measurement of learning engagement, as the impact of CLMS development, was conducted using the Online Student Engagement Scale (OSE) adapted from Dixson (2015). Data analysis employed qualitative analysis and statistical frequency distribution for each engagement component. The results showed that the average engagement of respondents at UNISA Yogyakarta before CLMS development was 74.7, and the post-test average was 78.8, indicating a score increase of 5% (4.1). Meanwhile, the average engagement score of respondents at UMP was 73.4. The effectiveness test resulted in a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05), indicating that CLMS development is effective in improving student learning engagement. Each course is expected to develop innovative teaching media within the LMS to enhance the student learning process.

Abstract

Both teachers and students must adjust to the new teaching strategy, despite all limitations and chances in remote learning during the pandemic. To accomplish the learning objectives, educators must create their courses by utilizing the advantages of technology. In order to optimize students' learning potential, several things had to be taken into account when designing such a remote course. In order to address the issue, this study aimed to demonstrate how the English for Academic Reading course in Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta was developed using the ASSURE (Analyze Learners; State Objectives; Select Method, Media, or Materials; Utilize Media or Materials; Require Learners' Participation; Evaluate and Revise) model in the form of fully-online flipped classroom. The data was gathered through observation and library study. The obstacles and opportunities addressed by both educators and students throughout the remote learning practice were analyzed using a qualitative methodology. The course was developed by mixing synchronous and asynchronous class activities after taking the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning into account. The design included independent learning, content explanations, quizzes, class discussion, and collecting student assessment. Students were shown to be more motivated to study when synchronous and asynchronous class activities were used, according to the evaluations.

Abstract

Penulis membahas pentingnya pengenalan kosakata bahasa Inggris pada anak usia dini melalui metode gerak dan lagu. Kosakata merupakan elemen penting dalam penguasaan bahasa, dan anak-anak memiliki daya ingat yang baik untuk menyerapnya. Di TK ABA Losari, pengajaran bahasa Inggris menghadapi kendala seperti kurangnya tenaga pengajar yang kompeten dan minimnya materi yang sesuai perkembangan anak. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, penulis mengusulkan pelatihan pengenalan kosakata melalui gerak dan lagu, metode yang menarik dan sesuai dengan karakteristik anak. Program ini mencakup tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Dalam pelaksanaannya, penulis menyiapkan materi, membuat video gerak dan lagu, serta memberikan pengajaran langsung bersama guru. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk menilai efektivitas metode dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata. Program ini bertujuan untuk memperkaya kosakata bahasa Inggris anak usia dini di TK ABA Losari
