Abstract

This study aims to determine the contestation of women in gender-based development in West Papua Province in 2022. This is motivated by the large gap between men and women in human development. The method used is secondary data analysis. Data was obtained from the KPPA book in 2022 and statistical data from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results showed that there is a gender gap and inequality in HDI in West Papua and Indonesia. This is due to the high patriarchal system in West Papua than in Indonesia. The patriarchal system has been preserved for generations. Another participation that involves women is their involvement in parliament. Although the government has given women a 30% parliamentary quota, this is far from being met in West Papua. In this case, women's contestation in the political sphere is also very minimal. Keywords: gender based development, patriarchal system, politics Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontestasi perempuan dalam pembangunan berbasis gender di Provinsi Papua Barat tahun 2022. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh besarnya gap antara laki-laki dan perempuan dalam pembangunan manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis data sekunder. Data diperoleh dari buku KPPA tahun 2022 serta data statistik dari Badan Pusat Statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesenjangan dan ketimpangan gender pada IPM di Papua Barat dan Indonesia. Hal tersebut disebabkan karena tingginya sistem patriarki di Papua Barat daripada di Indonesia. Sistem patriarki tersebut telah dilestarikan secara turun menurun. Partisipasi lain yang melibatkan perempuan adalah keterlibatannya dalam parlemen. Meskipun pemerintah telah memberikan kuota parlemen sebesar 30% kepada perempuan, namun pada kenyataannya hal tersebut sangat jauh dipenuhi di Papua Barat. Dalam hal ini, kontestasi perempuan di ranah politik juga sangat minim keberadaannya. Kata kunci: Pengembangan berbasis gender, sistem patriarki, politik

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the involvement of parents of economically disadvantaged students in post-pandemic learning, a crucial issue considering the demotivation experienced by many students after the COVID-19 pandemic ended. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The informants include four parents, four students, and one teacher from SDN 2 Cidora, Lumbir Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of parental involvement. The findings reveal that parents of economically disadvantaged students engage in their children’s activities by providing physical facilities, offering motivation, paying attention to their children’s assignments, and supporting school activities. However, academic involvement remains low due to a limited understanding of the materials and time constraints. To overcome these challenges, parents rely on assistance from relatives as a form of social capital. The study concludes that economically disadvantaged students are able to compensate for the lack of economic capital through social and cultural capital, facilitating their adaptation to post-pandemic learning.
