Abstract

In the 1960s Australia experienced a decline in the teaching of Civics Education. Some problems in civic education in Australia such as national identity, too much weight on Civics learning and the most serious is the lack of youth participation in citizenship. In the 1990s civic education experienced a revival, this was marked by the emergence of the Discovering Democracy program which was created to overcome existing problems. Using the literature study method, researchers examined the role of the Discovering Democracy program in Australia. Deficiencies in the understanding and skills of some teachers in the field of civic education are the focus of revamping this program. The aim is to equip young people with the necessary skills to better participate through education in schools. One way to achieve this goal is to involve students in their everyday environment. This program has a large contribution in citizenship education in Australia. Many schools report that, after this program teachers feel much more confident to teach citizenship and citizenship than before.

Abstract

Abstract

Bullying in higher education poses significant threats to students’ right to feel safe, disrupts psychological well-being, and undermines the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). This study aims to (1) identify the prevalence and forms of bullying in higher education, and (2) design an anti-bullying education program based on a Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance campus safety and support SDGs. A descriptive qualitative case study was conducted with 15 students, 10 lecturers, and 5 educational staff. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and campus policy document analysis, and analyzed thematically. Findings reveal that 36.7% of students experienced verbal abuse, 20% experienced online humiliation, and 26.7% were socially excluded. Bullying manifests in physical, verbal, psychological, and cyber forms, negatively affecting mental health, well-being, and academic achievement. The proposed LMS-based anti-bullying education incorporates structured learning modules on bullying types, impacts, and prevention strategies; online training for students and educators; discussion forums; integrated case reporting mechanisms; and periodic evaluations via questionnaires and data analysis. The system enhances awareness, facilitates anonymous reporting, and fosters active participation in creating a safe campus environment. This study underscores the potential of LMS as a strategic platform for inclusive, evidence-based anti-bullying interventions, contributing to the fulfillment of students’ rights and supporting the realization of SDG targets.

Abstract

This study examines how local wisdom-based conservation in the Wonosadi Customary Forest contributes to the fulfilment of the constitutional right to a good and healthy environment in Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis conducted between February and June 2025. Fifteen informants were purposively selected, including traditional leaders, members of the forest management group, residents, and village officials. Data were analyzed thematically through coding, categorization, and interpretation, supported by methodological and source triangulation. The findings demonstrate that local values, such as pamali (customary prohibitions), rituals, and customary institutions, form a participatory governance system that effectively regulates forest use and maintains ecological balance. Conservation practices have improved vegetation cover, air quality, and spring water availability while reducing ecological risks such as floods and landslides. These efforts also support community welfare through agroforestry and the sustainable use of non-timber forest products. Overall, the model contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 6, 13, 14, and 15, demonstrating that conservation rooted in local wisdom can serve as an effective and adaptive strategy for sustainable resource management. However, its long-term success depends on strong social institutions, intergenerational knowledge transmission, and cultural cohesion.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration and implementation of Digital Citizenship Education (DCE) in Indonesia's national curriculum as a preventive measure against the increasing cases of cyberbullying among teenagers. The study was conducted through a literature review of curriculum policy documents and relevant journal articles. The results show that cases of cyberbullying in Indonesia continue to increase, especially among young people who use social media. Although the government has strengthened regulations through revisions to the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, law enforcement has not been effective enough without the support of digital values and ethics education in schools. An analysis of the Merdeka Curriculum reveals that PKD is not yet a separate subject, but is integrated into certain subjects such as Informatics, Religious Education and Morality, and Pancasila Education, and is implemented across the curriculum. This integration is still implicit and focuses on digital literacy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a systematic and applicable PKD learning model, emphasizing four main elements in preventing cyberbullying, namely digital communication, digital literacy, digital etiquette, and digital law. These four elements are important in shaping the character of digital citizens who are smart, ethical, and responsible. Keywords: Digital Citizenship Education, Cyberbullying, Indonesia

Abstract

The fast growth of digital technology has changed how education works, including Civic Education, which helps make citizens responsible and involved in society. In today’s digital world, Civic Education has to not only use technology in teaching but also make sure that using digital tools is based on knowing what’s right, being responsible, and supporting democracy. This study looks at how changing to digital teaching methods in Civic Education can help students become better digital citizens by using a learning approach that focuses on values. The study uses a detailed review of existing research and ideas to gather information from articles, government policies, and real-world studies about digital change, civic education, digital citizenship, and teaching values. The research shows that using digital teaching methods like blended learning, flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and interactive digital tools can help students improve their civic skills, their ability to think critically about digital content, and their sense of responsibility online. It also shows that learning based on values helps students handle problems like fake news, divided opinions online, and shallow engagement with digital content. This study highlights the need for teachers to act as guides who encourage thinking and active learning, connecting civic values with digital activities. The ideas from this study help build better Civic Education programs that support digital citizenship and provide high-quality education, which connects to important goals like improving education (Goal 4), promoting peace and justice (Goal 16), and reducing inequality (Goal 10).
