Abstract

Textile industry waste at this time is enough to worry the community and the environment. The presence of synthetic dyes in water is hazardous, even in small concentrations. These synthetic dyes are derivatives of aromatic compounds such as benzene, toluene, and naphthalene, which are more resistant and stable than natural dyes. The adsorption method is used because it is easier to do, has no side effects, and does not require complicated and expensive equipment. In this study, the shells and membranes of discarded chicken eggs became useful as an absorbent of indigo carmine dye with an adsorption capacity of 6.399 mg/g. The adsorption reaction kinetics were analyzed from the optimal contact time data, and the reaction isotherm was analyzed from the adsorption optimal concentration data. The kinetic model that fits the research is the second pseudo-order with R2 = 0.9998. The adsorption mechanism demonstrates that the adsorption capacity is proportional to the adsorbent's active sites. The adsorption isotherm model, with R2 = 0.9748, is more closely related to the Freundlich isotherm model, indicating that adsorption occurs in several layers. From an economic point of view, chicken egg shells and membranes can be recommended as dye absorbers that are eco-friendly, efficient, and simple to obtain while lowering organic solid waste.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of reward and punishment on the performance of Islamic bank employees in West Sumatra. Reward is measured through job promotion and bonus, while punishment is measured through demotion and mutation. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with questionnaires distributed to employees of Islamic banks in West Sumatra. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that job promotion, bonus, and demotion have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while mutation does not have a significant effect. Simultaneously, reward and punishment significantly influence employee performance. These results highlight the importance of implementing a transparent and fair reward and punishment system to improve employee performance in Islamic banking institutions. The implication of this study suggests that Islamic banks should strengthen policies related to promotion and bonus distribution, while carefully reviewing the effectiveness of employee mutation to avoid potential negative impacts on performance. In addition, the findings provide academic insight into human resource management practices within Islamic banking and can serve as a reference for future research

Abstract

BAZNAS of Tanah Datar Regency has successfully optimized zakat collection through an automated salary deduction system for Civil Servants (ASN). However, a significant challenge persists in the non- ASN sector, where contributions remain remarkably low, accounting for only 1.94% in 2023 and decreasing to 1.77% in 2024. Despite this, the potential zakat from agriculture, trade, and professional sectors is highly significant if managed professionally. This qualitative field research aims to analyze strategies for increasing non-ASN zakat collection, alongside its supporting and inhibiting factors. The results indicate that the strategy is executed through three stages. First, strategy formulation involves mapping potential muzakki and analyzing internal-external conditions. Second, implementation includes establishing fundraising volunteers, optimizing the role of empowerment preachers (da’i), providing zakat pick-up services, and conducting extensive socialization via direct and digital media. Third, periodic evaluations are conducted to ensure program sustainability. Supporting factors include an increasing number of local volunteers and policy support from the Regional Government and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Conversely, the primary inhibiting factors are low zakat literacy, limited understanding among some religious leaders regarding organizational zakat management, and a strong traditional culture of distributing zakat directly to mustahik without involving official institutions.
