Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of multimedia education on improving adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in the prevention of diabetes mellitus in Cakung District, East Jakarta. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 70 high school students (40 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group). The intervention was carried out by screening a 10-minute animated educational video once a week for 8 consecutive weeks. The instrument used was a knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) questionnaire that had been translated into Indonesian and proven valid and reliable, with scores converted to a 0–100 scale. The analysis showed significant improvements in knowledge (p=0.000), attitude (p=0.009), and behavior (p=0.000) scores in the intervention group compared to the control group. The study demonstrates that multimedia education is effective in raising awareness and promoting behavioral change among adolescents in diabetes prevention. Therefore, multimedia-based approaches are recommended as educational strategies in schools for adolescent health promotion. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi multimedia terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku remaja dalam pencegahan diabetes melitus di Kecamatan Cakung, Jakarta Timur. Penelitian menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan rancangan pretest-posttest control group yang melibatkan 70 siswa SMA (40 kelompok intervensi dan 30 kelompok kontrol). Intervensi diberikan melalui pemutaran video animasi edukatif berdurasi 10 menit setiap minggu selama 8 minggu. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku yang telah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia serta telah valid dan rreliabel yang dikonversi ke skala 0–100. Hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada skor pengetahuan (p=0,000), sikap (p=0,009), dan perilaku (p=0,000) pada kelompok intervensi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa edukasi multimedia efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan mendorong perubahan perilaku remaja terkait pencegahan diabetes. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan multimedia dapat direkomendasikan sebagai strategi edukatif di sekolah untuk promosi kesehatan remaja.

Abstract

Educators hold a strategic role in the national education system as they are directly involved in the learning process and character development of students. Therefore, improving teacher competence is a top priority for the government in efforts to enhance education quality. The teacher certification program is designed to ensure that every educator meets the established standards of professional, pedagogical, social, and personal competencies. This study aims to examine the implementation of teacher certification policies and the obstacles encountered during the process. The method used is a literature review by analyzing various relevant sources. The findings indicate that certification policies have had a positive impact on teacher professionalism, work motivation, and mastery of technology and effective teaching methods. However, implementation still faces challenges such as complicated bureaucracy, unequal training access between teachers in urban areas and those in 3T regions, and the lack of ongoing evaluation after certification. Additionally, some teachers pursue certification merely to fulfill administrative requirements without fully understanding the essential goal of improving education quality. To address these issues, it is necessary to digitize administrative processes, conduct continuous training, carry out regular evaluations, and provide intensive assistance, especially for teachers in remote areas. With the right strategies and sustainable policy support, teacher certification is expected to become an effective instrument in improving the overall quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Laboratory-scale Nannochloropsis sp. cultures typically rely on expensive commercial nutrients for aquaculture feed production. Shrimp head waste contains important nutrients that can be used to produce liquid organic fertilizers. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of using commercial fertilizer combined with liquid organic shrimp head fertilizer (LOF) on the growth of Nannochloropsis sp. on a controlled scale. The experimental design included four treatments (P0:100% commercial fertilizer), P1 (50% commercial + 50% LOF), P2 (75% commercial + 25% LOF), and P3 (100% LOF). Cell growth data were subjected to ANOVA and Duncan's tests. The use of LOF significantly influenced the growth of Nannochloropsis sp. on day 7. Peak growth occurred on day 7. P0 treatment (100% commercial fertilizer) showed the highest growth (15.7 × 104 cells/ml), although it was not statistically different from P1 (50% commercial + 50% LOF) and P2 (75% commercial + 25% LOF). The highest Specific Growth Rate was observed in the P0 treatment (0.22). This suggests that while shrimp head LOF alone may not be sufficient, its combination with commercial fertilizers holds promise for the sustainable cultivation of Nannochloropsis sp.
