Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the vitamin C content in pineapple fruit, determine its potential as a source of vitamin C, and apply specific reagents to detect vitamin C content. The research was conducted in the chemistry education laboratory of Universitas Kristen Indonesia using the iodimetric titration method. This method was chosen because it is cheap, simple, and does not require sophisticated laboratory equipment. Iodine was used as an oxidizer to oxidize vitamin C with amylum as the indicator. The results showed vitamin C content of 43.79%, which is close to the standard vitamin C content in 100 grams of pineapple fruit, which is 47.8 mg. This data shows that pineapple fruit has a fairly high vitamin C content, although there is a slight discrepancy in the results. The iodimetric titration method successfully detected vitamin C content in pineapple fruit. This analysis also used vitamin C tablets as a comparison with a standard solution consisting of 4 drops of iodine and 4 drops of vitamin C tablets. The results showed that fresh pineapple fruit has a significant vitamin C content of 43.79%. In conclusion, pineapple fruit has potential as an important source of vitamin C. It is recommended to switch the analysis method from iodimetric titration to UV-Vis spectrophotometric method to obtain more accurate and efficient results. UV-Vis spectrophotometric method can provide a more accurate and reliable analysis of vitamin C in pineapple fruit. Keywords: Vitamin C, Pineapple, Iodimetric Titration, and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan vitamin C pada buah nanas, menentukan potensinya sebagai sumber vitamin C, serta mengaplikasikan reagen spesifik untuk mendeteksi kandungan vitamin C. Penelitian dilakukan di laboratorium pendidikan kimia Universitas Kristen Indonesia menggunakan metode titrasi iodimetri. Metode ini dipilih karena murah, sederhana, dan tidak memerlukan peralatan laboratorium yang canggih. Iodium digunakan sebagai oksidator untuk mengoksidasi vitamin C dengan amilum sebagai indikatornya. Hasil praktikum menunjukkan kadar vitamin C sebesar 43,79%, yang mendekati standar kandungan vitamin C dalam 100 gram buah nanas, yaitu 47,8 mg. Data ini menunjukkan bahwa buah nanas memiliki kadar vitamin C yang cukup tinggi meskipun ada sedikit kesenjangan hasil. Metode titrasi iodimetri berhasil mendeteksi kandungan vitamin C dalam buah nanas. Analisis ini juga menggunakan tablet vitamin C sebagai pembanding dengan larutan standar yang terdiri dari 4 tetes iodine dan 4 tetes tablet vitamin C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buah nanas segar memiliki kadar vitamin C yang signifikan sebesar 43,79%. Kesimpulannya, buah nanas berpotensi sebagai sumber vitamin C yang penting. Disarankan untuk mengalihkan metode analisis dari titrasi iodimetri ke metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis untuk memperoleh hasil yang lebih akurat dan efisien. Metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis dapat memberikan analisis vitamin C dalam buah nanas yang lebih akurat dan terpercaya. Kata kunci : Vitamin C, Nanas, Titrasi iodimetri, dan Spektrofotometri UV-Vis

Abstract

In the era of technology that continues to develop rapidly, students' needs for technology-based chemistry learning media are increasingly urgent. However, it cannot be denied that local wisdom also plays an important role in education. This research aims to analyze the needs of SMA MIPA students in Sitaro Regency for chemistry learning media based on technology and local wisdom. The research method used is quantitative descriptive. The results of data analysis show that the average score for all statement items is 3.99 on a Likert scale (maximum score 5), meaning that students generally agree with the use of learning media based on local wisdom. Further analysis shows that there is a significant difference (sig 0.05) in the perceptions of female and male students. Female students have a higher perception regarding the importance of using learning media based on local wisdom in learning chemistry. Likewise, students in classes X, XI, and XII showed differences in student perceptions (sig 0.05). Class XII students (4.01) have a higher perception than class XI students (3.98) and class X (3.97). Based on this research, it was concluded that SMA MIPA students in Sitaro Regency need chemistry learning media based on local wisdom.
