Abstract

This study delves into how the Baduy people confront global challenges, emphasizing the function of customary law as a binding social tool. A qualitative approach was chosen to deeply understand the social reality of the Baduy community, which is viewed as being shaped by the consciousness of individuals within it. Triangulation from various sources and theories was employed to ensure data accuracy. The research is centered in Kanekes Village, Banten, home to the Baduy community that strongly upholds ancestral traditions. The Baduy people maintain their cultural values through oral traditions and practices passed down through generations, keeping these values alive in a modern context. Within this society, there are two main groups:Outer Baduy and Inner Baduy, each with a distinct approach to modernization. The Outer Baduy are more open and adapt to modern elements within certain limits while preserving traditional values, whereas the Inner Baduy focus more on internal education and community organization, choosing isolation as a means to preserve their unique culture. This research explains the steps of data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification, referring to the framework developed by. Pudjiastuti. Overall, this study provides insights into how the Baduy people maintain their cultural values and identity amidst the dynamics of changing times.

Abstract

This study examines the inheritance case of Shandy Susanto from the perspective of civil law and Chinese traditions, reflecting the conflict between the patriarchal Chinese customary law and Indonesian civil law, which emphasizes gender equality. Using a qualitative method and a literature review approach, the study finds that the Indonesian Civil Code recognizes equal rights for adopted and biological children, while Chinese customary law tends to prioritize male heirs. This case highlights the importance of valid documents, such as notarial deeds and the Certificate of Inheritance, in determining heir status amidst allegations of document falsification that can lead to conflicts. Amid Indonesia’s pluralistic inheritance legal system, the decision of the Banten High Court, which designated Shandy Susanto as the sole heir, reinforces the supremacy of civil law. The study emphasizes the importance of harmonizing customary and national laws.

Abstract

The development of social media has influenced people's communication patterns, especially Generation Z. One platform that has played a role in the formation of new language variations is TikTok. This research aims to describe the forms of acronyms, blending, and clipping used by Generation Z on TikTok, explain their linguistic characteristics, identify the factors behind their emergence, and examine their implications for the use of Indonesian in the future. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a morphological approach. Research data is in the form of words, terms and expressions that contain acronyms, blending and clipping processes in TikTok content and user interactions. Data collection techniques are carried out through listening, note-taking and documentation techniques. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results showed that there were 39 data consisting of 24 acronyms, 7 blending, and 8 clipping. Acronyms are the most dominant form used because they are able to support fast and efficient communication. The use of blending and clipping shows Generation Z's linguistic creativity in creating new forms of language that suit digital communication needs. Research findings show that Indonesian is dynamic and adaptive to technological developments. However, excessive use of slang has the potential to blur the boundaries between formal and informal language use, so adequate linguistic literacy is required.
