Abstract

Background: Anemia is still one of the major public health challenges in various parts of the world. The latest data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019 shows that the prevalence of anemia in women of childbearing age (15-49 years) reaches 29.9% globally. According to MTS At-Taqwa field data, 3 out of 5 adolescent girls do not know how to prevent anemia. Anemia can increase the risk of fatigue, impaired cognitive function, and other serious health problems if not treated properly. Video media is a special interest for the 4.0 generation who like to use advanced technology, especially videos that feature funny and unique characters. In addition, print media such as leaflets are also one of the effective media used for education. Objective: This study aims to distinguish education through animated video media and leaflets on knowledge about the prevention of anaemia in adolescent girls at MTS At-Taqwa Samarinda. Method: The research design used was Quasi Experimental with Two Group Pre-Test Post-Test design. The sample in this study was 64 MTS At-Taqwa students who were taken in total sampling. Results: The results of the study found that there was a difference in education using animation video media before and after the intervention with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Using a leaflet with a p-value of 0.003 < 0.05. In the Mann-Whitney U test, a p-value of 0.002 < 0.05 was obtained, which means that there is a significant difference between the animation video media and the leaflet. Conclusion: Animated video media is more effective than leaflets, so it is hoped that research sites can use animated videos to increase knowledge.

Abstract

Every year, diarrhea kills 50,851 children aged 5-9 years. In the working area of the Trauma Center Health Center Loa Janan Ilir in 2022, the number of diarrhea cases was 344, and it increased in 2023 to 416. This indicates that personal hygiene practices such as handwashing are not yet optimal. One educational effort that can increase students' interest in improving clean and healthy living behavior is to use video-based learning media, by observing the effect of video media on increasing knowledge and skills in preventing diarrhea among students of SDN 010 Loa Janan Ilir. The method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest), with a sample consisting of 45 students from classes 4A, 4B, and 4C of SDN 010 Loa Janan Ilir, selected using proportional random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and CTPS observations and then analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge and skills (p-value = 0.000) after the intervention was given. Video media proved to be effective as an educational tool in improving personal hygiene behavior among elementary school students as a preventive measure against diarrhea, and audiovisual media can be an appropriate health promotion strategy in school environments.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic condition characterized by persistently high blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin production, resistance to insulin action, or a combination of both factors. Emotional support from individuals closely connected to patients plays a vital role in strengthening psychological resilience. Open communication with family allows patients to receive support in managing nutrition, reminders for medication adherence, and moral encouragement during times of fatigue or emotional distress. This study employed a cross-sectional design involving 55 respondents selected through simple random sampling, ensuring equal opportunity for participation. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test to assess the relationship between variables. The results showed a statistically significant association between family support and medication adherence (p < 0.000; α = 0.05). These findings underscore the importance of family involvement in improving treatment compliance among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is hoped that patients will be more open to accepting family support and fostering effective communication. Family involvement should include emotional reinforcement, consistent reminders to take medications, and the sharing of relevant information about dietary restrictions or lifestyle adjustments. Strengthening this supportive relationship can enhance motivation, improve adherence to pharmacological regimens, and ultimately contribute to better disease management outcomes.
