Abstract

Elections play a crucial role in empowering citizens to choose their leaders. Every eligible citizen has the right to vote for their preferred candidate or party, and the outcomes determine leadership at various levels of government. Bawaslu, as an election monitoring agency, holds a critical mandate to develop and implement strategies to prevent violations during the electoral process. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Bawaslu Kubu Raya’s strategies in preventing violations during the 2024 elections. A qualitative descriptive research method was employed to provide an in-depth understanding of this issue. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while Hasibuan’s effectiveness indicators—Work Quantity, Time Utilization, and Capacity Building—were used to assess the strategies. The findings reveal that Bawaslu Kubu Raya’s strategies are optimal, as evidenced by a reduction in reported violations and proactive community involvement in monitoring. This study underscores the importance of collaborative initiatives and capacity-building efforts in enhancing electoral integrity and transparency.

Abstract

Poetry is a form of reflective expression that plays an important role in conveying cultural values, healing the soul, and forming the collective identity of society. However, the perception of the general public currently still sees poetry as a complicated and exclusive art due to a rigid teaching approach and focus on structural aspects. This community service aims to open access and bring poetry closer to the general public. The poetry workshop was held offline in Pontianak involving participants from various age and professional backgrounds, in collaboration with the Pontianak Poetry Community. The method used is a community-based descriptive qualitative approach, emphasizing the active involvement of participants in the process of reading, writing, and reflecting on poetry, with a focus on personal experiences and emotional expression. The results show that poetry can be accessed and used as a medium for inclusive and reflective expression, is able to dismantle elitist stigma, and strengthens social connections between participants through a process of joint expression and appreciation. These findings strengthen the role of poetry as a means of aesthetic literacy that has the potential to increase expressive awareness and social cohesion in society.

Abstract

The development of information technology, especially the internet, makes it easy for children and adolescents to access various kinds of information. However, without parental supervision, this can potentially influence the formation of their identity. This study aims to optimize the role of parents as gatekeepers in shaping children's identity in the internet era. Parents are expected to control and supervise their children's access to digital information that can influence their development. The method used in this study consists of several stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation, in which this Community Service (PkM) activity was carried out in Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. This activity involved parents who are also members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) to increase their understanding of the role of gatekeepers in the family. The results of the community service showed an increase in parents' knowledge about the importance of supervising their children's use of gadgets and their role in providing moral and social values in accordance with local culture. However, challenges such as difficulties in regulating the use of gadgets still exist. It is hoped that synergy between parents and children can be created to foster a more prudent environment in the use of technology and social media.
