Abstract

The rapid development of technology is utilized in the field of public relations to provide comprehensive information to the public through social media. One of them is PLN UID Kaltimra, which utilizes Instagram to disseminate information about the company through the Instagram account @plnkaltimra and applies strategic communication in account management. This research aims to find further information about how PLN UID Kaltimra uses social media platforms as a means of conveying information and communicating to stakeholders and how they handle crises or controversies through their Instagram accounts. The data analysis that the author uses is the Miles & Huberman Model of Qualitative analysis with purposive sampling techniques. The results of this research indicate that the communication strategy activities carried out by PLN UID Kaltimra’s Public Relations was helped by their Instagram platform. Implemented communication strategy through brand ambassador, sponsorship, branding, and posts about PLN’s support for IKN became an attraction for their Instagram account. Crisis management carried out by the PLN UID Kaltimra’s Public Relations communications team was also greatly helped by this Instagram platform. Apart from that, there are also several challenges faced, namely a lack of human resources managing social media accounts, a lack of understanding by team members about how social media works and its management, adjustments to the development of new algorithms and features, as well as crisis management and quick response via social media.

Abstract

Professor is the highest academic title for lecturers who are devoting themselves to become educators in higher education units. Not all lecturers can hold the title of professor, because there are various requirements that must be met by lecturers. One of them is at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University in Samarinda, which has a professor acceleration program to increase the competence and capacity of lecturers in achieving functional positions as professors. Good management is needed in implementing the accelerated professor program so that this program can run well and. smoothly. The implementation of this research aims to find out the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University in managing and developing effective communication management so that the process of accelerating professors can be carried out very well. The theory used in this research is communication management theory. Qualitative research method is the method used in this research by conducting interviews and direct observation as data collection techniques. The results obtained in this study are that the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Mulawarman University manages its communication management in various ways and involves lecturers and various parties related to the process of accelerating professors.Guru besar atau yang biasa disebut profesor merupakan gelar akademik tertinggi bagi dosen yang sedang mengabdikan dirinya untuk menjadi pendidik dalam satuan pendidikan tinggi. Tidak semua dosen dapat menyandang gelar guru besar, karena terdapat berbagai persyaratan yang harus dipenuhi oleh dosen. Salah satunya pada Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Mulawarman di Samarinda yang memiliki program percepatan guru besar untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dan kapasitas dosen dalam mencapai jabatan fungsional sebagai guru besar. Manajemen yang baik diperlukan dalam melaksanakan program percepatan guru besar agar program ini dapat berjalan dengan baik dan lancar. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Mulawarman dalam mengelola dan mengembangkan manajemen komunikasi yang efektif sehingga proses percepatan guru besar dapat terlaksana dengan sangat baik. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori manajemen komunikasi. Metode penelitian kualitatif merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan melakukan wawancara dan pengamatan langsung sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Mulawarman mengelola manajemen komunikasinya dengan berbagai cara dan melibatkan dosen serta berbagai pihak terkait dengan proses percepatan guru besar.
